    When did that happen?

I picked up my son today to give him a hug and he was almost too heavy to hold. Just yesterday I was giving his age in months and watching him crawl on the floor, now he has friends other than me and homework.

I don't know what my point is, it just goes by so fast. Sometimes you wish they could stay little forever.

I'm pretty sure you just got weak, dude. Try lifting a little, it might help.

Same thing happened to me the other day. Then I said to myself "Shit, I forgot this kid is twelve..."

    I'm with you.

My daughter started walking about 2 weeks ago and my son(4 in January) is already going to neighbors(friends) houses alone, wanting to play with the big kids, and asking questions that nearly stump me. It seems like yesterday that he was at her stage, and I realize that she will soon be at his. As I mentioned in another thread, I just want them to SLOW down. I just love being a "da-da".

Well, if they get to be 6' 3" and 215 lbs like mine you might have to go on the juice too.

I'm in the same boat, I can still pick the little guy up, but he is getting big. Started kindergarten this year, has friends of his own. Fortunately he is still my ski buddy. He has been into learning how to tune skis. He loves helping me out in the shop.

His comment all summer was "would'nt it be great if we could go skiing."

The other day I lost my temper (just a bit) with my 5 year old and I raised my voice unnecessarily at him.

He furrowed his eyebrows and called me over to "have a talk". He said, "Dad, we need to talk. Sit down. Now, listen. I don't like being talked to that way. Please apologize."

I did apologize, because he was exactly right, and he gave me a hug. I think he's in control now. When did that happen?

    You got PWNED!

Heh, my poor dad is on anti-depressents now (or so he says, i think he's just guilt tripping us) since I graduated college and moved away, and my brother just moved out of the house, and my sister will move out next year for college. Poor guy, all he's got is his dog now.

LOL! I'm surprized he didn't put you in a timeout - sounds like you needed one. It never ceases to amaze me how often my words now come back to bite me in the ass!

haha! gee, and to think - I knew better than to say that to my father!
I'm not so sure I would have gotten away with it.

on kids growing up: I'm pretty sure my son thinks the definition of "heavy" is a verb meaning "put the baby down." When he wants to be put down, he'll tell me he's heavy.

Don't stress over it, just enjoy it all. Mine are now 16 and 12, and everyday just gets better and better. New challenges, new joys, new fears, but so far no boys. ( I have two daughters.)

I was just holding my daughter the other day on my lap giving her a hug. I remember when her feet would only hit my belly at most. Now her feet are down to my knees when I hug her like that.

And potty training has officially started. she peed on the potty seat on the toilet. Got all happy and excited, stood up on the step stool and then peed on the floor and then laughed and ran out to the kitchen and peed more there.

We have our work cut out for us now.

Oh, and when I ask her if she wants to go to bed, she says yes if she is tired now.

    you are a better man than I! unfortunalely I can lose it ! mostly because my #1 son # will take a shot at #2 and #2 will scream such a loud scream that it literaly hurts my ears so I freak. I need more pain pills! however on a differnt note;

Zane my 5yrold started kindergarten this year and I guess he musta overheard me talking about orographic lifting and adiabatic cooling, and I heard him telling his friends why there is snow up in the mountains and not in the valley.
Zane: "there is no snow down here because the mountains have orographic lifters that make the clouds dump powder"...classic!
