I posted this in the CO group buy thread, but it bears repeating here...

I want to give gamma huge props for organizing this buy (even though I'm not in it).

I have to say that the organizer does have quite a bit of work in these things...and there's definitely hidden cost. Some of the stuff that can go unnoticed:

    * Many emails to Europe...some of which get answered, others which simply get lost in the void;
    * Late night phone calls to Europe (I wasn't on a calling plan w/ good rates to Germany; each call cost $5-$10)
    * Dealing with customs -- for me this included filling out forms with FedEx and a number of phone calls (not a huge deal, but it's all incremental)
    * Having to track all payments -- had to create a spreadsheet and enter all the information, including real addresses and usernames. Takes some time. Also, some folks forget to give you their username, so tyou have to do some forensics. I have a file folder about 3/4" thick with payment info, invoices, etc.
    * The shop might send you something other than what you ordered -- either as an honest mistake or as a substitute. Nuisance to deal with -- and extra (high) shipping costs go along with that.
    * Greguar's not reshipping....but packing materials, boxes, tape, many trips to the post office / UPS / fedex, gas...it all adds up a little bit.

Why am I posting this? Just want people to know what's involved and to give props to your group-buy organizer. By the time the buy's all done, they go through quite a bit.

Is it worth it? Yeah...I think so.

People are getting HOOKED UP this early season!

    Peace.

Ok, I should recieve the first package by the end of the week.. its in transit now.

    a couple of small glitches..

    1. It may be another 1-2 weeks before I get all the binders in. I have placed and paid for the whole order from schindele, but they have only shipped one package. They emailed me this am and told me the other packages would be shipped this week. this may have to do with their location or binding availability (see below). This is TOTALLY out of my control. I will ship out the bindings as they arrive, so one point ship may go out the window.

    2. There was a little confusion on models when I made the order. In europe they refer to a comfort without bindings as the TLT. At first I ordered TLTs for all who ordered comforts without brakes, to my distress Upallnight notified me that they send TLTs not comforts without brakes. I quickly phoned schindele to switch it up.. so If u ordered comforts without brakes, you will recieve comforts with wide brakes. Im sorry, but they dont seem to have comforts without brakes.

Here is a weblink to a page describing in detail how to remove the brakes.
    http://www.wildsnow.com/articles/dyn...e-install.html
so.. worse comes to worse.. u have a 20$ back from selling the brakes on ebay..

just keep in mind, ur paying 220 for a binding that retails for 430(i checked it in a shop this weekend).

guys please remember, this is a lot of work, so be understanding about the timing and everything, remember ur getting something for 30-50% below retail value.

We understand all the hard work, gamma. That's why we didn't run this order ourselves. Keep us up to date.

guys one point ship has gone out the window for 2 reasons:

    1. rather have u get ur bindings ASAP
    2. paypal needs me to verify that goods have been shipped to release funds to my account.

First 5 Binders sent via priority mail w/250$ insurance:

    Monkey Man 2 pair FR+ med/wide brake
    0305 2710 0001 4862 9213

    Bud 1 pair FR+ med/wide brake
    0305 2710 0001 4862 9244

    Guano 1 pair FR+ med/wide brake
    0305 2710 0001 4862 9237

    Davieboot 1 pair FR+ med/wide brake
    0305 2710 0001 4862 9251

As of right now, I have only recieved 1st package which is 10 pairs of FR+.. fedex called me and the 2nd one should be delivered monday.. that one is TLTs, NAXOs, FR+ and some comforts. There is a 3rd package, which has the rest of the comforts.. that one not sure when it arrives..

Thanks for all the hard work Gamma! I have to say I think this deal has gone down extremely smoove so far.

I apologize for being rushed when you called earlier. It has been a hectic day.

    nps... .

basically, shipping for fr+'s insured is around 17.85 for 1 and 29.05 for 2.

many thanks for powderallthetime for ordering 4 pair, that will save like 10-15$ bucks somewhere.. (which will pay for tape, pens and index cards.. 15$ at CVS!!!)

u get some small savings, like 3-5$ a pair when u ship 2 pairs. i think the comforts will be slightly cheaper to ship.

btw, everyone who order comforts w/o brakes, u will get them w/ brakes as this is what schindele has... the brakes are easy to remove.. if u order TLTs u get TLTs.. UAN had quite a lot of input and helped me avoid SEVERAL PITFALLS, SO BIG PROPS TO HIM ON HELPING ME OUT!!!!

AND GUYS, NO FLIPPING THE BINDINGS ON EBAY FOR A QUICK 100$. THATS NOT COOL EITHER. U WANT TO ADD 20$ on and sell em on Gear swap, hey I can understand for the use of ur dough, time waited and whatnot, but trying to turn real $$$$ is not cool and bad karma.. and I will say, there is A LOT of karma involved with these deals...

You and UAN are going to have so much karma banked from these group buys, that you're not going to know what to do with it all.

major props to gamma (and to all the trusting folks who put up their cash in these group buys).

i have to say that i view karma a slightly different way. perhaps instead of paying it forward, all the good things i do/one does is really paying people/the world back for all the good things that have ALREADY been done for me in my life.

    peace.

EVERYONE gets comforts with brakes.. they had no comforts without, so u'll just have to learn to remove brakes!

    For everyones guide as well:

    Ive so far spent:
    6820$ for the bindings themselves
    200$ on re-ship

    Total
    7020$

    collected:
    6906.75

    should collect:
    285-300$

    Total
    7100$

    not including my binders..

I assume I'll spend another 300 in between customs and re-ship.

yeah buddy. tell 'em to hustle up on the dynafits. doctor says i can ski in a couple weeks.

disclaimer: i am my own doctor.

and let me be the last or first to say we should definitely throw gamma some more cash to make up for anything extra he has to pay i.e. shipping/customs. $5 each would be easy. you shouldn't have to come out of pocket for doing this, that's for damn sure.

edit: or you can come to the pnw for some powder skiing at stevens pass. i got lift tickets and a couch.

Gamma, you're definitely on my xmas list. I'll be perusing SAC for the next week or so... Hope the extra cash on my check helped a little.
