    Watea vs Mantra vs XWSandstorm

    Hello all

Need some advise on skis. Going to Whistler and maybe around in january and I am considerinng buying a pair of skis that will make me happy. To me it seems a bit overkill to bring my Sanouks. Ski mainly offpist and previous skis are G4 198 and Movement Thunder 185. The skis will see AT, telemark and alpine use. Any thoughts?

How are the skis going to see AT, telemart, and alpine use? The watea is like a wet noodle. The Mantra is great for everyday all conditions type stuff, its more like the G4 then the other skis.

Mantra's (if you're talking 2007) are essentially the Explosive. Same layer of titanal, same flex. To me it looks like one of the best skis of '07. A true do everything ski.

    no.

    They ski completely differently.

Mantra replaced the Explosiv but it's not the same as.

I actually prefer the Mantra but I need to grow some.

I use the Mantra as a touring ski. Before that I used the G4. The Mantra is a very different ski. While the G4 blasts through stuff and likes to carve, the Mantra floats and likes to smear. The Mantra is easier to ski in deep snow or bad snow, but less stable and less versatile in bounds. Better powder ski; not as good "quiver of one."

You are correct: the Sanouks would be over-kill at Whistler. Way over-kill. Look at what the pro patrol are wearing. Think Head Mi88, Elan M777, Dynastar 8800...
