    Scarpa Shell Question

I think I know the answer to this, but it has been a long time since I had access to a full size run of Scarpa boots. So here is the question. If the boot I use has a size 7 lower shell (new ones would be labelled 26.0), is that the same shell that is used for the 6.5 (25.5) or the 7.5 (26.5)? The reason I ask is because I want to know if I am at the "top" or "bottom" of that shell size. Anybody help me out?

I beileve the 26.0 shell would be the same as the 26.5. Better have some true techy confirm it though.

I seem to recall just the opposite, which is why I was asking. Anyone work in a shop that sells scarpa? If so look at a 26.0 and a 25.5 and see what the LOWER shells say. If you look on the tongue or the cuff it wont give you the answer since those are used across multiple sizes.....

You are correct. The old 8.5 - 9 shell (for example), is now mondo 27.5 and 28.

Root: Thanks for trying to help. To make things more confusing I just got a report that this changed with the new boots. So in order to clarify this and bump it for someone that can check, here is the question.... Is the shell on a 26.0 Scarpa T-race (white ones) the same shell as a 25.5 or a 26.5. And if anyone knows for sure when and if they changed it would help immensely.

I posed this question to Scarpa and here was the reply:

28.5/29.0 are the same shell, and, yes, the 28.5 liner is a little smaller than the 29.0 liner. You can purchase these liners either from a dealer or from us direct for $199.00 USD.

Thanks! I actually sent an email to Scarpa about it, but no response yet. Sounds like I am just in line for a new set of 25.5s. As for the liner, hopefully the new ones are worth keeping.....

Wha? Now I am even more confused. My T1s (last year) are 26.5 and the lower shell is a 7...if that helps.

Are you sure on those figures. Until recently Scarpa had sized their boots with UK sizing. If your lower shell SAYS 7, then the boot should be a UK 6.5 or 7.0 (US Sizing = 7.5 or 8.0/ Mondo 25.5 or 26.0). If they are 26.5 they should be a size 8 (U.K) in the lower shell. For a chart, check this out... http://www.telemark-pyrenees.com/sho...articles_id=21
I was more concerned that they had changed things up with the new boots.

Not a cheap liner. Now REI is carrying only the 1/2 size increments. So, to get an 8 lower shell Spirit 3 I ended up with the 26.5 inner instead of the 27 inner. I wonder if they can source a 27 from Scarpa and swap me?

OK it is official. I confirmed it by looking at boots today and Scarpa confirmed it via email. 25.5 and 26.0 are the same shell, just like in the past. The only difference in sizing is the labels that are now Mondo instead of UK. No other sizing changes. Hope I helped everyone with this "now" useless thread

Didn't read the whole thread, but the 26 and 25.5 are same shell size, and that same pattern continues for all sizes.
