    Check out my woody's

    My new "wood" top sheets. We will see how long the $1.50 roll of contact paper lasts. I did a few top coats of marine grade urethane to give it a good gloss. If this fails, then I am ordering up some REAL 1/64" wood veneer. I had to do something to the ugly graphics. I will post about the durability once they hit snow.

    Lets put it to the test;

    What ski is it?

    That's exactly what I had in mind earlier this year for my neon Explosivs. I decided to keep them neon and ugly.

    I just picked up a set of Powder Plusses; once I get the binding hole plugs sanded down flush with the topsheet, I'm going to do the woodgrain shelf paper. That looks a lot nicer than I expected it to look.

    I was pretty blown away how good it does look. You can barely see the graphics under the paper if you look real close.

    you got it. Fuckin ugly graphic's, even without the horrible color and computer printer quality of the '05-'06 protos, and all hacked from last season. So it was time to change it up. Its dumping in Summit, and hopefully I can skip out of work in the am for a few and test out the durtability.

    I will let y'all know how it works out

    What did you use to trim the contact paper around the edges of the ski? I'm going to be doing this project soon.

    Perhaps the most and 2nd most often repainted skis? I've been on repainted CMH exploders for a couple years and just finished putting the last layer of clearcoat on a pair of Pow+

    A utility blade, and a dremel with a sanding drum. Then I sprayed 2 coats of urethane, the finish looks good, but a clear enamel might be more durable.

    Thanks -- dremel + drum is a good idea; I was wondering what to use to smooth the edges.

    Edit: Did you dremel the edges smooth before or after spraying the urethane clear-coat?

    Me too. Especially since I am forced to close my eyes everytime I ski those things because I can't stand the sight of them.

    It really hasn't been working out for me too well in the trees.
