    large boot size buying help

I have a friend who wants to get into skiing, and has gone a couple of times. The problem is he wears a size 16 (american) and only a few rental stores carry that size. Where would be a cheap place to buy some size 16 boots? I see only one 16 on ebay, and it's kinda expensive for a beginner. Probably doesn't want to spend much more than $100 and doesn't mind if they're lightly used.

nordica used to make a 34.0 mondo point (~16) as well as salomon,

369mm boot sole on the side of them

I dont know who would have thatused, but they do, or did, exist

    size 15 here.
the only way to find a cheap boot is to go to a high-end shop right at this time of year and get last year's model of whatever he has in stock.

your friend won't have much selection..

yeah make sure you get boots in his shoe size, that will really help his skiing.

    For sure.

I'd be willing to bet that you could get him into a 31 mondopoint fairly easily, and you can always stretch and grind a boot 2 or 3 sizes larger.

Maisin de Ski in Idiot Springs has 16 and 16.5 for $10 per day. Go spend some money there and they'll probably work something out with him.

avg. a size 16 here. You are NOT going to find ANY boot in a 16 for a demo or rental, he is going to have to pony up and buy a pair outright. Salomon used to make a 16, Scarpa makes a 32 (runs on the larger size). lange makes 32/32.5's. Worst case scenario is he will have to the custom boot route, check out dale boots for this.

Remember to tell him you generally wear ski boots smaller than your shoe size. His best bet is to find a GOOD boot fitter with many years of experience under their belt, they will know who to hit up for sasquatch boots (learned this first hand, dealt w/too many greenhorns until i found a good fitter who had been around for a while)

Our world is full of surrender at the first sign of adversity, do not give up when the challenge meets you, meet the challenge. Through perseverance comes the rewards, the rewards that make life so enjoyable.

Seize the day, trusting little in the future.

if you want something, go after it. if you want to screw someone over, look DEEP in your heart and realize Karma is a bitch
