just curious. what is a carfax? i've heard of it before but never looked into what it actually is. sorry for the dumb question.

Carfax is an internet web site that will report information on autos. They run mostly as a paid service (from time to time there are trial periods or free report offers) where you enter the VIN and they will report the info such as previous owner(s), service background, any details such as vehicle was claimed as a lemon, in an insurance claim for flood damage, totaled or involved an accident, etc. (Some of the info can be determined by understanding the Title info- salvage, lemon, flood, etc should all be marked on accurate title- one that has not been doctored. Very helpful and mainly used to determine the legitmacy of a used car deal- to see if the info adds up (mileage, etc. rolled back)
