what to get for Marmot warranty ?

My Marmot Goretex pants had a delam problem so they are giving me full credit (~300). Nice folks. Unfortunately, they don't make that pant anymore so I can get different pants or use the credit to get other Marmot stuff.

I don't know what's good in their line nowadays (mostly bought Patagucci adn Arcteryx in the last couple of years). I have some older Marmot stuff like Belay Parka, Randonee gloves, old down jacket, old alpine/winter tent that were pretty good. Also had duds like their old spring gloves.

The closest to my old style are the "Marmot Randonee pants" which I have no idea about. I have also heard good things about the driclime windshirt (but I already have a Patagucci Houdini).

What would you recommend from Marmot if you were spending ~ 300-400 total ?

I don't know if they have changed the randonee pants but the ones I have from a few years ago are very nice. Goretex, full side zip, removable felt knee protectors/warmers and great fit for me.

I'll second the favorable thoughts about the randonee pants. Have had mine for a couple of years and love the knee inserts. My knees no longer ache due to wind hitting that spot while I am riding the yo yos like they did with all my old pants. They are pretty durable too from what I can tell.

Spartan bibs (if you swing that way) are the shit! XCR, steezy thigh pocket (actually very convenient), full zip sides, nice high bib.

I am also a fan of Marmot warranty, they are reasonable and very easy to deal with.

I'm in the same boat, but don't really like any of the pants. Anyone used or seen the Randonee pants? Can you wear them without suspenders? They look higher, but not full bib height?

I'm bummed they don't make a single pair of pants with 3L Gore-Tex and any sort of gaitor or elastic at the bottom of the pants!?!?

I do have to give them props for hooking us up with a lot of credit for various garments that now leak.

Ding, Ding Ding Comish ! My position exactly. Its not that complicated. All I want is 3 layer event (or Goretex XCR as second choice) pants + integrated gaiters that are light/ tough and don't have way too many gizmos to make them heavy. My previous pair were pretty close to ideal and weighed ~17-18 oz. The new stuff is mostly at ~32 oz or even more. I use a backpack and don't need a zillion pockets or hundred zippers. Want to use the same set for skiing and climbing and doing the latter with 2 pound pants is silly when my summer backpacking/ climbing rain shell pants weigh 7 oz .

Anyway, rant off. Based on responses, I will go check out the Randonee pants at local store to see if they will work (btu they look ultra heavy).
