    Puerto Vallarta exploring!!!

Hey you all, I just got back from Puerto Vallarta a few weeks back and am heading back in the Spring...
It was my first time to Mexico and the area is just stunning with beauty.

From the bay that is surrounded by Mountains to everything around.

I took a 4 hour ATV tour thru the lower region and missed the Tree Top Canopy tour but am going to do it in the Spring when I go back.

Has any of you been to that area and if so what can you recomment for activites such as hiking in the mountains to anything else..?..

    Puerto Vallarta

I loved Puerto Vallarta and lived and worked there in 2000 and learnt Spanish and changed my life. Some must things to do are

-Go to Punta del Mita one day to surf or just hang out. Take the regular transit bus (takes about a hour though). Can find out schedules at the tourist office that is by the Malecon

-Go snorkelling at Los Arcos preferrably with one other person in case waves
are high, hit rocks, or get hit by a tourist boat. Can buy flippers and mask and snorkel in PV but better to rbing own and in the type of mesh bag to carry it all. YOu can take the regular tansit bus away from the old town and
get off on the highway and climb down and over some rocks and then swim
out to Los Arcos. If by yourself might be better to do this by yourself one day

-If you are with someone else (that preferrably speaks Spanish) go to some of the local bars in Viejo Vallarta and above the Malecon (not the big night clubs out of town with the foam etc...) The best is "La Cantina" but really local, be careful here but beautiful girls.

-Go to Yelapa for 1-2 days if you haev the time

I can't say much about PV, other than I was glad to get out of there as quickly as possible. I rented a car and drove north. Stayed in a little village named Chalaca. Great beach and palapa resturants. Good surf, but I didn't, and kayaking, which I did. Nice area to hike. If you are into birds, go to San Blas, one of the foremost birding sites in the world. Also neat mango swamps with crocs, etcetera.

If you are in PV for the evening check out the cow bar. (La Vaqueria?) It is actually somewhat funky and interesting. Other than that the surrounding small towns and beaches are quite nice.
