    Squad mounting point

Did a quick search, seems the current wisdom is to mount Squads on the line... I have a pair of 189s, getting em mounted up this weekend, anyone have a diffreent view/experience than mounting on factory lines?

I´m almost in the same spot. I have had my 189squads mounted at the line but I really feel the powder performance is pretty shitty (unless ure really maching it!).
Anyone who have tried som other mounts. I´m pondering remounting mine at -2cm. Thoughts?

Well, they're not really powder skis. Even in 194. They're just too stiff. More like a crud/big mountain/variable conditions charger.

So no1 has tried any other mount? I think the pow performance would get a push in the right direktion if -2cm mounted. Would anything else be sacrificed with a mount like that?

Played with the 189s on demo binders last year. Got maybe 4 or 5 days on them. One high density and one very low density pow day, both around 10". On the line I found they ripped up dense new snow and chop as effectively as anything I've skied. Back was maybe a tiny bit better in pow, but way easier to get stuck in the backseat. Forward was better on groomers. I'd say mount on the line. The tips had a tendency to sink in really low density snow unless you are really moving, try mounting back a little if you think this might be of concern to you. I'm 5'7" 150lbs fwiw.

I don't think mounting the squads back is a good idea. On the line, they're such a powerful ski that if you get back seat and let the skis take control, you're in for a ride. I wouldn't want to give them even more of an advantage over me by mounting them further back. But hey, they're your skis.

I've mounted several pairs of Squads for Rossignol supported skiers and not once have I mounted behind the line. In fact most go 1/2 - 1 cm. foward of the line. That's in Little Cottonwood Canyon, so people intend to ski powder on them...

Ive had a few pairs of squads and i always mounted them a little in front of the line. If i was to ski them again i would prob mount them a little back because there tendancy to dive.

    concur

Vouch for Zo, if he is the Zo I know.

Str8 used some of my demos last year and played with the binding point, He ended up liking about 1-1.5cm forward the best.

You will have to figure in your size of course.
Switch powder skiing, while mostly useless, may be the missing link between skiing and snowboarding

I like my squads on the line in everything except bullet proof ice and powder. I just bought new skis for pow.
