Well, not discovered, I mean i just read it.
What is the only band that has had four of the Rolling Stone top 100 guitarists as part of the band (not all simultaneously).
I guess if you wanted to go crazy you could name them too for extra credit.

I am embarassed to say that despite looking at the list (but doing no further research), I don't know the answer. I can say that the list, as many RS lists, probably encites a great deal of controversy and disagreement. Knoffler at 27? http://www.rollingstone.com/news/sto...ts_of_all_time
So what's the answer Ice?
I'm guessing The Yardbirds.

Allmans. I wouldn't have guessed it either.Originally Posted by wikipedia

AFAIK: YB's only had Beck, Clapton, and Page from that list. That would have been my guess to though.

I heart Duane Alllman too.
I just found a note Il eft at a friends house when I was in Philly
"listen to the early Allmans"
im wierd.

Sounds like quite the birthday treat Woodsy.
It's not weird to listen to the early Allmans btw.
I bummed a smoke off a dude tonight, making conversation I asked him the same question. "Allmans," he said, and blew a smoke ring.
I wish I could make smoke rings.
maybe he visits Wikipedia on a regular basis.

just to toss an asterik out there:
john mayall's bluebreakers did get 3 guitarists (mick taylor, eric clapton, peter green) and a bass guitarist (jack bruce) on the top 100's.
I would have guessed Whitesnake.

That list is stupid, it leaves out some and mis-ranks others.
Also, it lists several of the better guitarists with the band name: Duanne Allman of the Allman brothers band
Umm, duh.
Then it list Dickie Betts without the band name, um hello? Of the two band members, which one would you need an identifier for.
Where was Nigel Tufnel on the list?

Yardbirds woulda been my guess...
That list does suck. Eddie Van Halen at #70?![]()
