power draw for engine block heaters?

anyone know the (ballpark) current/power draw for an engine block heater?

    if it matters, it's for a '97 volvo and a '94 landcruiser.

i need to run some extension cords and want to hook it up to a timer + make sure it's safe.

the documents that came with the heaters when installed didn't indicate anything about this.

    thanks in advance!

    low...

shouldn't be a problem unless you are linking up for a 100 meter driveway with two cars at the end. they use very little heat/energy really.

thanks. i'm not using a long cord, it's just that i have 4 outlets in my garage, and i'd like to plug 2 block heaters in (and they'd be plugged into timers)...and on some days i might be using my waxing iron, soldering iron, base repair gun, power drill....

    thanks!!!

on my truck it is 1000w so probably less than that for your vehicles. Shouldn't be a problem, I run a timer too and it is plugged to my very antiquated garage electrical (glass fuses ), no problems although I can't run the space heater + light + iron
