    correction: educate yourself, then vote.

please don't vote if you don't know who the candidates are or the details of the issues.

    Voted...bump.

If your not informed, take 30 minutes to search around the net and educate yourself on at least several races or issues in your area. I agree, quality over quantity, but when less than 20% of the population is voting...any degree of educated decision is valid.

    DO IT!

I took about a week to fully vote, gradually taking in all the issues, sent in my ballot last week. Absentee rocks.

Anyone else notice that the candidate statements suck for all the small positions, like community college board? I kinda miss voting in Santa Cruz, there were only like 8 candidates on the whole ballot. SF is a bit more complicated....

Edit: It's a damn shame when you live in a state where both gubernatorial candidates are disappointing choices. Movie star or weasel, hmmm.

Amendment 40 is a decided no. It is being run by a right wingnut who is pissed because his illegal redistricting plan was thrown out. It would make a majority of the current appeals and supreme court justices retire in 2008; it would make appellate judges partisan hacks who are replaced every ten years by the governor. Some judges are bad and need to be removed, but this is a pretty shabby way of doing it, throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

    Glad I voted against it!

(I wasn't as uninformed as it may appear, I just wanted to get some additional feedback)

Again, what constitutes an "educated" decision? Listening to what a has-been comedian or an Oxy junkie has to say? Paying attention to the ridiculous campain adds on TV? I really don't think spending 30 minutes "researching" on-line will get you very far. It's a conundrum - I agree that it's kinda useless to vote if you have no real opinions either way. But to say certain people shouldn't vote sounds completely fascist.

actually, if you live in a large enough city; 30 minutes research online should be enough to figure out which candidate is for what and what each proposition will do.
if not, i'd head down to both your democratic and republican HQ and ask them thier views on whats on the ballot. you ought to be able to smell who the rats are by listening to them. the smoke and mirror candidates/propositions stand out easily.

How does it feel, being your first time and all? Also, the sticker is good for a free beer at Treat Street in the Mission.

Get out and vote. You don't need to know the issue(s) or candidates to vote. You can abstain from voting on an issue you don't know enough about and you can write yourself in as a candidate. I will second, third, fourth, etc. If you don't vote, you don't have the privilege to bitch and moan how are gov't is going

Voted. Sent letters explaining my vote to the candidate for congressman and governor that were on our ballet and outlined the pork in their agenda's that I will try my best to embarrass them with in the future (through letters to the media) unless they drop said pork/corporate welfare/pure bad policy.

I feel better now. I've done what I can do within the confines of my life. For better or worse, this is why our country has remained mostly civil over the years and what many, many, soldiers have died and served our country to protect.

Read and vote. People that don't vote disgust me, though its not because they don't vote, its because they don't generally seem to care about anything outside of their tiny cocoon world so long as they are warm and cozy
