Anybody down for at little Gunbarrel action today? I gotta go up there and handle a little bizness, and then would like to hit some sweet jumps. Anybody game? Hev? Fondiggles?

Flow- do you know anything about some dirt jumps over in Broomfield off of Sheridan near the new construction for the Wild Grass neighborhood? They're near the intersection of Lowell and Sheridan up there (just southeast of there), and it looks like some pretty good stuff in there. I can't tell if they're for dirt bikes or regular bikes, but it looks pretty nice.
I wanna ride gunbarrel

Damn I just saw this. I would be down, but don't know if I can get off work in time. Went over on Sunday but they were pretty wet still from the last storm. They should be good now. And Christmas, what are these jumps you speak of. Looks pretty close, and easy access right off 36.
A gay-rage full of toys. You can guess em.
After talking to some guys at Full Cycle who seemed to think Gunbarrel was kind of tatered I just went over to the Fix. Fun jumps, but not DH bike material, I probably would have been better off riding hammered jumps on the big bike at GB.
Lloyd, I haven't seen those jumps you speak of, but will be checking them out asap.
I ordered a new dj bike [ http://feltracing.com/products/produ...catid=18,23,35 ] but it won't be avail for 3weeks so I gotta scratch by on big bike-able jumps.

They look pretty fun. Of course, I don't know what to compare them to- but it looks like a lot of them, and there's never anyone over there when I drive by. If you need directions, let me know.
Flow - You'll have to let us know how you like that Straight Shot. I was going to buy one until I started getting deeper into the geometry. The SS has long chainstays and a long top tube...3cm longer than the Jump Shot. I like a quick handling bike for street and urban stuff too, so I wanted shorter stays. I rode the Kona Scrap and a Chase sz M, and they just felt long, tough to manual and bunnyhop very high because of the heavy(long) feeling front end. Not a big deal on a full squishy bike, but huge difference on a hardtail.
I ended up going with the 07 Commencal Absolut. JumpShot was my second choice tho, after the Giant STP.
Plus I couldn't find anyone with a Shot in stock to test ride.... that's one thing that sucks about picking out a dirt jumper, nobody has them to try, even for a parking lot ride.

Interesting. I rep for Felt....so I only have one choice. I considered the jump shot, but I want to race some gated stuff next summer, so I need some gears. I didn't get a chance to ride one at the dirt demo in vegas, but Alan Foster, former bmx stud, took one out around the test track and was stoked with its ability to rail berms. Although he could probably rail berms on anything.
My group was looking at picking up Commencal, and the Absolut would be the call then...but we've balked a bit after looking at the Meta bikes and their creeepy similarity to the new Diamond Back Mission bikes. I'm sure it will ride great but it would be a pain in the ass to sell.
Let us know how you dig that Absolute.

Ha, cool. I should have talked to you before I bought. If i went Felt, I would still go with a Jump Shot (even though I require at least an 8-speed too) just because the top tube is shorter. I'd retrofit it with gears and shifter goodies. Do you know if they're made overseas or here in the US? I know some companies make their higher end stuff here at home, and outsource other models.
I actually talked to a Felt rep for the NW on the phone, he had a lot of big plans about getting them into Oregon bikes shops, but they're just not there yet.
We'll see how this Commencal rides. I'm not that impressed with the rest of their line, especially the Metas, but the little bikes seemed well designed.
Yup, there are big plans for expansion now that Felt has that new suspension design, and some 29ers, and a few new road bike lines...They have a complete line of bikes, but it can be hard squeezing a full line in amongst the big S, T and Gs.
I was initially fired up about Comm., because I'd have a DH race bike, but looking at it now...I don't what to think about that chain guide you have use. The BB is low to begin with, then TWO pullies that seem set up low as well. I think I'd rip those things off on the first weekend of riding.
That cromo absolute is sick tho.

I got the aluminum version... Spec'd kinda low, but I love that chocolate brown frame. I recently read a shootout between the Black Market Mob, Norco 125, Felt JumpShot, and a FireEye... The Norco and the Felt were top 2, and the Felt came out on top I believe.
Comm: The thru-seatpost designs on their DH bikes just kinda weird me out too. I'm still in the market for a 6-7" bike, I think it will be even more difficult to choose.
