Getting into AT: Mounting Freerides to Sweet Daddies

Okay, so, I'm looking to do a little backcountry exploration on a budget. I'm 215#, 6'0" and ski almost everything except steep and tight trees fairly well. I'm not a big hucker nor super crazy hard charger, but I ski pretty hard.. And for now, I'm an ice-coaster but things should be changing soon.

I'm thinking of selling off my marker bindings and purchasing a pair skins and Fritschi Freerides for my 172 Sweet Daddies.

Anyone have any concerns or suggestions about this plan? Should I buy brand new, or hope to get something used? I want to save $$$ but don't want to get screwed or even worse, suffer equipment failure. Thanks gang! Appreciate the help.

No real advice on binding and this might not fit your budget but at your size and BC you might want to check out the snoop daddy. A little beefier ski plus some more float. Keep in mind down the road maybe.
It's not so much the model year, it's the high mileage or meterage to keep the youth of Canada happy

go phat for your BC ski. You're just not going to see the kind of super hardpack you see at resorts, there's just not as much traffic. Even on the EC between storms you'll be more likely to see crusts(rain, sun, wind) or refrozen crud then bulletproof. A wider ski's gonna handle stuff like that better
For sure, you have to be lost to find a place that can't be found, elseways everyone would know where it was
