    Numb foot

I need some advice from the Maggot Medical Team:

So Saturday, when I was at Crystal I accidentally locked down the buckle over my instep a full one or two notches tighter than normal. Two runs later I was in so much pain I had to sit down and take my boot off. I gave it a few minutes, put the buckle in the right notch and then got going again. I still had some pain but I skied through it.

Today I noticed that the left half of my left foot seems to be numb. Kind of like when your leg goes numb. It's been like that for a few hours now. What to do? It isn't affecting my running or walking so it doesn't seem like a big deal but I'm not a foot expert. I'm not insured but I could probably scam another free trip to the collge infirmary.

So, what did I do to my foot and should I go see a doc?

    Warm soak and massage. Yes.

    Elevation. No.

Also, maybe minimal swelling and no discoloration.

Basically you compressed a small superficial nerve. Typically tyese things will get better in a day or two. The numbness and tingling should diminish and then disappear. I would give it just a few days, if it does not improve then go see your doc. and, try not to buckle the boot too tight until this goes away.
