Started to snow in Fernie today 061029

finally! after seeing all those CO TR's so far this season, nice to see some white stuff accumulating in the backyard. Environment Canada has upped the total for today from 5 cm to 10-15cm with temps falling through the day to minus 7C. A further 2 cm forecast, but then sunny for this coming week with highs near the freezing mark. I heard the Bulkley Valley in B.C. got 50 cm! Bring on winter.

There was some good early season skiing last winter in Fernie before the hill opens. Hope its the same for the folks back in Fernie this year. I skied about 10 days before the hill opened last year.

The best was when I was still working lift maintenance and we fired up the Boom chair. We lapped the Boom Ridge and North Ridge while we took turns running the lift as we had to get some hours on her. There must of been 50 people boot packing up the bear that day while we had the Boom Triangle to ourselves. I miss those days. Oh well, I will be at Baker next weekend.

One more dump and it should almost be good enought to skin up the hill for a couple of turn.
