Question Avalung Users - Quick Question

I just picked up BD's new Covert backpack with the integrated avalung and I noticed that when I exhale through the avalung it makes a loud noise (almost sounds like and Elk call). Is this normal? I was thinking it might be a design feature to help find a buried victim.

how many times do you think you'll be able to inhale and exhale loudly when you're buried in an avalanche?

Elk are being trained as avy resucers at major resorts around the world. The sound is the Elk mating call and summons a slew of horny Elk to dig you out with their antlers. Just make sure you high tail it out of there after they dig you out unless you are a fan of Elk cock.

I'm bettin' CF is hoping to inhale and exhale loudly many, many times while buried.
A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. It's the valve that is making that noise, it's normal.

I read the other night coating yourself in female elk urine is supposed to speed up the recovery process.
Minutes count out there kids, take every precaution you can to stack the odds in your favor. Elk calls, animal urine and pheremones, inflatable suits; they are all tools to add to your avalanche safety quiver.

yeah, they stole that technology from a Scotsman. An eccentric scientist who work'd alone, his life work was devoted to advancing the bagpipe as a tool of world salvation. He'd finally developed a working prototype of the avalanche bagpipe and some BD designer same him testing prototypes in the Alps and stole the design

I think a trombone would be most effective. You would get the dual benefit of the noise and the slide action that would start a tunnel for your escape.

I bet you could get a trombone on ebay way cheaper than a new BD elk-a-lung.

Even a rusty trombone would work.

A hoochie mamma is an important addition to any seasoned BC user's saftey gear. When used properly in conjunction with a studfinder, a kiddie beach shovel, and a bamboo dowel, you too can save a life.

I was hanging out on my deck last night listening to a shitload of avalungs bugling in the distance.

I don't know what slid in the middle of teton valley but it must have trapped at least 100 of em'. I wanted to whip out my butplug and start searching for them but I couldn't figure out where to put the new batteries.
