    My new longboard...

For anyone who has a longboard in their quiver, here's some new board stoke:

9'0 Virgo "Rincon" model, 70s retro resin swirl on bottom, solid blue deck
    17"x22"x14", 2 7/8 thick, rounded pin; 5" nose rocker, 3" tail rocker
    70/30 high performance rails
Double 6 oz S-glass on the deck, single 6-oz S on the bottom, clark blank
2+1 lokbox fin setup with Wayne Rich center (7", I'll run a 9" when I run this as a single fin)
    Gloss+Polish finish

This is my high performance longboard for chest-overhead+ days when I don't feel like riding my shortboards. We'll see how she noserides - not expecting that to be too great as it's more of a high performance shape, but hopefully will still enable to hang some toes over. Should turn on a dime though. We're expecting to see some swell here in the northeast starting on Sat, so that will be the maiden voyage. Stoked!

What sort of shape on the bottom? Any concaves, V, etc?

I'm looking at a new board and trying to figure out what I want, but from the dimensions, what you have there is something similar to my current thoughts.

    comish -

It's a slight single concave at the nose through the mid, going to a double concave at the tail. I'm hoping there's enough in the nose to help facilitate noseriding - we'll see, though this board isn't technically shaped for any extended time on the nose.

I had a similar shaped Stewart a couple years back, and loved how it surfed, but snapped the thing (Stewarts are not the most resilient boards). This board is made with S2 glass, so it should be much stronger than the regular E. We'll see...

Took the new longboard out at a somewhat sheltered point yesterday to try to escape the hard offshores, and it kind of sucked. I couldn't get the feel for it in smaller waves. It got too crowded for my liking, so we headed over to a beachbreak not far away.

The beachbreak was macking, solid 6 ft with bigger sets, 30 mph slightly side-offshores. I decided to try the longboard there again instead of shortboard. It performed wonderfully (aside from smacking me in the fucking head on a botched drop). This board needs power to really shine and bring out its performance. Needless to say, I am stoked!!
