PSA - Gear swap and Mark Newcomb speaks at Univ of Wyo
The University of Wyoming Gear Swap is this Saturday in the Student Union:
Gear swap: Saturday, Oct. 28, 11 a.m.–3 p.m.
Gear drop off: Friday, Oct. 27, 6–8 p.m.& Saturday, Oct. 28, 8–10 a.m.
Gear pickup: Saturday, Oct. 28, 3–5 p.m.
Location: Yellowstone Ballroom, Wyoming Union
Then, the following Wednesday, Mark Newcomb speaks and shows a movie:
"The Line: a journey to the far fringe of skiing," presentation and movie by Mark Newcomb
Mark Newcomb, a Jackson, WY native, and current UW student will be presenting a movie about his bid to ski an incredible unconquered line down the 26,500 ft. Shishapangma in Tibet. Following the presentation there will be a free raffle drawing for prizes from Marmot, the primary sponsor of the film.
Mark has been an Exum Mountain Guide for 17 years, and instructor for the American Avalanche Institute in Jackson, WY (his father Rod has been the Director since 1974). Mark has completed numerous first ski descents around the world and especially in the Tetons. He has worked as a ski patroller and avalanche forecaster. He was named by Powder Magazine in 2003 as one of "Six Best Ski Mountaineers." For more information on the movie, go HERE.
