There Is a God: I Get to Ski This Winter!

Until today, this winter was looking pretty grim to me: I'd be skiing Big Bear, traveling to Mammoth once in a while, and likely traveling to UT a few times too. That's a lot of traveling, and by no means enough skiing. But now, Dain and I are moving to San Francisco. I'm 99% sure I'll buy a Kirkwood pass and get to ski on a weekly or, at the worst, a bi-weekly basis. I'm relieved to be within a few hours of a 500-in annual snowfall again.

Are you going to actually make multiple appearances at Kirkwood this year?

Ya, we'll definitely have to meet up. I don't know the San Fran area at all, and I've only been to Kirkwood once. I do feel bad, though: I never met up with any San Diego mags (ie Pizza Port). I guess there's still time.

Hey, you never know. Maybe the gas-x cannons on Carson Pass will break down again and people coming up from the Spur side will have all the luck.

Welcome to the Highway 88 pre-dawn crew. I suggest you dial 877-KIRKWOO every morning at 4:30 AM to prepare yourself. Joe's Travel Plaza on I-5 has the cheapest gas.

Let me know if you need neighborhood advice: SF is about ten or twelve different cities depending on where you live.

Thanks! Hopefully I can find some like-minded carpoolers. I probably won't get to do any Kirkwood scouting, and then I'd have to deal with it all on my first frantic pow day.
Dain's job is in Mill Valley, but where we'll end up living is anyone's guess. If you have any suggestions or warnings, let me know. We pay quite a bit in rent down here, so hopefully it's not shockingly different up there.

Welcome, if you ever get tired of the drive, come up on the Bus
    The BayAreaSkiBus.
Runs there and back on Sat, Sun, and one Weekday. With some overnights.
Picks up in SF & East bay.

There are a couple of other Ski-Bus companies around here too.
Way less reliable. A lot of cancelled trips. But there's:
RideLakeTahoe, who say they're going to KW a lot

    & NAC-ski http://www.nacski.com/index2.aspx

ha, where is he working in mill valley? that's where i live (and truckee) when here in the bay. you should seriously consider renting here in mill valley, it's only 15 mins from SF, but it's actually sunny here most of the time, and you are within walking/riding distance to kick-ass mountain biking, road riding, hiking and surfing.

Oh, really? Good to know. He'll be working at WTB. I work from home, so I'd definitely like to live closer to all the daytime fun. If you know of anything for rent in the area, toss me a PM for sure!

i figured it was probably WTB - I know several guys there, great company, great products and cool people all around! yeah, check out mill valley when you get up here and start looking for places, its a pretty schweet town and a good place to hang your hat in the bay area.

    That sentence is very confusing.

I (Spats) (the skier) ride Spats (the ski). I (Spats) (the skier) also ride bicycles. My woman rides Spats (the skier) but not Spats (the ski). I have ridden with freshies (the skier) and I have skied freshies (the snow) but I have never skied with freshies (the skier). Freshies (the skier) may have ridden Spats (the ski) but he has not ridden Spats (the skier) -- that's foul, and I (Spats) (the skier) don't swing that way. I (Spats) (the skier) might ride with boobookitty (the skier), but riding boobookitty (the skier) is out unless she, her husband, and my woman have kinks I (Spats) (the skier) don't know about.

    Does that make everything clear?

Ah, yes, perfectly. Sorry for the confusion.
I, boobookitty, have no husband, but I don't think that I or my boyfriend are interested in riding anything other than each other and our respective bikes. That should clear that up.
I do ski Spatulas (the ski) on freshies (the snow) quite often and am looking forward to doing so-possibly with freshies (the person) and Spats (the person)-in the Tahoe area this winter.
    I feel better now.

wow, my head is spinning from all that

to clarify, I (AKA: Freshies) do in fact ride Spats (the skis, not the maggot named "Spats" - I don't swing that way, but hey, there is nothing wrong with it if that's your thing...) and I have in fact ridden (mountain bikes) with the maggot known as "Spats"...

so yeah, look forward to meeting ya'll and riding single track in Mill Valley with you guys and freshies (the snow, as in powder, not me) in Tahoe this winter (while we are both on our Spats).
