    Another f***ing wide binding question

Hey, Im sure your sick of reading these, but I searched and couldn't find a answer to my problem, so here it goes.

Anyway, I have some px12 bindings and need some wide brakes for my 07 seths. I am a complete gimp when it somes to using my hands, and have complete faith in myself that if try to bend them myself i will snap the brakes and will be unable to reassemble the binding. Also I don't have access to any tools/vice/blowtorch or bending device.

This leaves with the option of replacing them with the wide brake available, but my question is, has anyone done this and how hard is it to do it? Will I need any tools, technicial know how, or specific skills?

sorry if this question is blatantly obvious, I don't have the bindings yet, i ordered them on SAC yesterday and haven't got em.

you will need a screwdriver and apparently screwdriver-operating skills.

Good news though: your useless-thread-starting skills are at an advanced level.

I'm bumping this, I need to mount PX12's on my gotamas (105 waist). Any chances with regular brakes(made for 80mm)?
If so, I haven't been able to take the spring with the brake out, only the pad(thing that you step on and makes the brake lift), can anyone help me?

dude: on the brakes, there's a screw. unscrew that, and yank. it should come off. it's really not that hard

well unscrewing that part off doesnt help very much, is it possible to take them apart even more? And after that part is off, how do I proceed to bend them, knowing I have a blowtorch, no clamps,...

Here's some ideas I found using a new technology known as "search TGR" hidden in the top right corner of EVERY FORUM PAGE.

Back out the screw that adjusts forward pressure all the way so your heel piece comes off. After that unscrew the top screw that holds the brake to your binding, swap, reverse procedure. This will mean that you will need to re-adjust the forward pressure. If you do not know how to do this do not try it since it will affect how your binder releases.

I don't know if this works on the PX version, but I just finished bending the brakes for some p12's. The way I used may be a little unorthodox, but it worked for me. First, I took the binding and squeezed the brake arms (the part of the brake that sticks out under the ski when the binding is released.) I squeezed and twisted enough so that only ONE of the brake arms came out of the housing mechanism. If you take both out of the housing mechanism I found that it is much harder to reassemble because there is no tension on the spring. Take the brake arm out completely and proceed to bend it to the width you desire. I used a bench vise and a sawed off ski pole and it worked quite well. Once you have bent it to the desired width just put it back into the housing mechanism and repeat the process for the second brake arm.
