    FIRST LEGIT EC STOKE

yes, its 7:49 am, yes, I'm already back skiing, and no, I haven't been asleep since 9 am on the 20th. Conditons were cold, windy, and snowy . Pics will be up later, but conditons were amazing for october 21st, 3 inches of soft on a wet snow base, didn't hit a single rock. Also, there is a distince possibility that my friend and I were the first people to ski on snow on the east coast this season. Food for thought, Is it dawn patrol if the sun hasn't risen till you're halfway back to burlingon?

Nice! So how much snow did you think there was? Right now I'm looking at getting my first day on tuesday which may end up being even more epic then today if some forcasts prove right.

we were at stowe, and it looks like Jay peak on wednesday will be amazing. I haven't found the friend with the camera yet, but I'll be sure to get some helmet cam footage on wednesday.

nice work soul! I hit up bolton valley early this am. much better coverage than i expected. several fresh inches and a few knee deep drifts on the way up. can't really complain about coverage considering its oct 21. Great way to start the season!

Don't be the guy that hits a rock under 1 inch of snow and ruins his whole season. Have fun, but watch out.

Sweet! Hit K with 2-3" this morning too. Hiked to the peak with KStormchaser and Thetreerat. Was a little dicey skiing down Catwalk(skiing on top of shrub and pines), but powerline was pretty sweet. Great to be back on skis again!!!

    Craving a Speights??

As for stoke: I'm headed up to Stowe today. Not sure what I'm going to find. Heard there were a few people up there yesterday- one tele skier boasted a top to bottom run. I can't verify that though.

Less than a month 'til projected opening day: GET READY.

top to bottom is totally possible.
These are the few pictures that were taken the morning of the 21st. They are not that great because it was still dark out when we dropped in due to my friend having to be back at UVM by 7:30 in the fucking morning.

View from my friend's dorm room window, this was during the stitting around, drinking and watching ski movies part of the night. I made the mistake of not sleeping and staying awake until we left at 4am, he slept, he was smarter than me.

Yours truly taking off skins and all that crap.

The one skiing shot that turned out.

By the time we got to the bottom the parking lot was getting full, and all the late sleepers were starting to hike, I really enjoy making fun of people for sleeping in till dawn, and i really enjoy yelling in happiness as I carved down that beautiful face. It may not have been 30 inches in 24 hours, but it still made me happy.

On that note, any northeastern mags want to do a balls to the wall roadtrip next weekend, leave thurs night, get to colorado by saturday at dawn, ski all day saturday and sunday, leave sunday night and be back in time for class at 10:00 am at UVM on tuesday morning.

ya, the same friend and I will probabaly be doing another dawn patrol at jay peak on wednesday and or thursday morning if anyone else will be there. Look for two guys on pocket rockets with freerides or naxos, and my skis have a killer blue and white custom topsheet.

Looks like you guys had a little more snow than us at K on Sat morning.

Check out the steep and deep mulch in powerline. Green jacket me, orange pants, Kstormchaser:

The shrubbery was a bit thick on Catwalk at the top:

A guy I know did that except for the stopping and skiing part, he picked up 600 pounds of plant material in CO and turned around and drove back. Total time from Boston to CO and back ~72 hours.

Yeah I never did quite figure out why it was Colorado. It was his deal not mine.
