Last year some a-crack stole my custom Donjoy brace (ACL w/hamstring reconstruction). Not the end of the world because my knee was pretty well recovered by then.
But a little later in the season a sloughalanche pulled me into a little tree and could have snapped my tib/fib on the same leg if I hadn't been lucky enough to take most of the impact with my boot. So now I see that Amazon.com has some awesome deals on the Sixsixone mx-1 and mx2 knee braces with armor. ($107 and $148 after $20 coupons)

I like their looks because you can lock them out for hyperextension protection. I like the mx-2 even more because it comes in left or right.
QUESTION: The mx-2 comes further down the shin and looks like it might interfere with a ski boot. Anyone used either of these braces? Sixsixone lists both of them in the snow section of their site. Incidentally I only want one brace for my poor left leg which has taken all the beatings.
