The dates for this year's Chamonix camp will be January 27-February 3.
The limit is 10 people and there are 6 spots left. This trip is for experts with the ability to ski hard all day and handle any snow conditions and some exposed steeps.
This is such a fun trip and Chamonix and the surrounding region is definitely one of the most breathtaking places on earth. The terrain, lifts, vertical, towns, food, culture and architecture are just incredible. It truly is the epicenter of extreme.
The camp will have tons of skiing, lots of video analysis and instruction, glacier travel and rescue instruction(see photos in trip report below), avalanche safety and rescue instruction, and great food and culture.
Last year's camp was very cool. The international cast who attended were super fun(skier666, Shirk, Hicks, Horizon, Bad_roo, Hayduke, Francis the Guide). We skied 8 resorts in Italy and France surrounding Mt. Blanc and Chamonix in 7 days. We also skied top to bottom at all 8. Conditions varied from powder to hardpack and allowed us to ski almost everywhere(the extreme steeps were dicey with some of the hardpack-slide you die).
This year Francis will be back as guide even though he is currently zig-zagging across the U.S. in his new Class A motorhome with his wife and 3 year old boy searching out their new home. After 18 years of living in Chamonix and becoming the first American to graduate from the prestigious Chamonix Guides School, he and his wife decided to raise their child in America and settle here(his cool blog of their travels is here: www.nosiesta.com) Francis is a tremendous guide/coach. He has skied most of the extreme routes around Chamonix and elsewhere in the Alps. His knowledge of all things skiing, mountaineering and Chamonix related are off the charts and he is a great guy to hang with.
Our base camp will once again be the Best Western Hotel Le Morgane, which is just 200 meters from the Aguille Du Midi Tram(9000 vt. ft.). It is a very comfortable hotel and has a conference room with an overhead projector that we will use for all the video analysis.
The price is the same as last year($2799) and includes lodging(breakfast included), lift tickets, transportation, and the camp.
Also, as an added bonus anyone who registers will receive an Eider pro-form for big discounts on Eider gear.
