So Im a High School Social Studies Teacher. Kids are done testing and its the end of the Marking Period. As a good educator, i think "What can i do to really get through to these kids?" What else can i do to help curb my own boredom?

Just get meta and talk about the Jones', what goes into a project like this, the logistics of production, etc.
Make it a "you could do cool stuff like this with your life if you wanted to" kind of lesson.

Make it a civics lesson relating to economics and specialization of jobs. Even bring Adam Smith into this if you feel the need for validation. There was day when trade became common and individuals now had the ability to abandon the need for total self sufficiency and learn a trade. The option was now available to become a blacksmith and use their wages to buy food, rather than growing thier own.
In a classic example of economic evolution, the Tangerine Dream shows us that now not only can inddividuals specialize in snow sports, but in skiing, and not just in skiing, but in big moutain skiing. A perfect economic "life lesson" for your students. When it comes to the work world, don't be good at a number of things, be great at one.
Don't go to college expecting make a lot of money in "sales". Focus on medical sales, and not just medical sales, but on orthopeidc medical sales. I'm not sure how applicable that last example is, but there is a leeson to be learned about economic specialization in all of this.....I'm sure of it

Have them study each location's culture, locate countries on the globe (geography), find the highest peaks in these countries, etc. There is a lot you could turn that into. Good on you!

No suggestions on relating it to SS, but if I'd had a teacher fire up the odd ski movie in HS I'd have probably attended more classes.

Shit I've been using TGR in my class for years. By May, they just tune me out, and they actually get a lot of work done!
