I don't really get it either. I hope that they don't expect to sell a lot of those.

I already have a classic Stumpjumper from back in the day. Its teal and fusha. I cracked the chainstay and Specialized wouldn't warranty it because I had jumped the bike. imagine that... someone jumping a Mt. bike... crazy kids. I swore I'd never ride another Specialized. Of course, 15 years later, I'm riding another Specialized. But I'll never ride another Stumpjumper classic!

$1300 seems steep. You can actually get a GOOD bike for that price.

I was thinking more along the second line, but you might be right.

Also they think some Specialized dealers may want them for a display item.
They suck to ride, and they really missed on the original spec. (drive train anyway)
    And yea, too much $!

man, you can have frames produced to old specs (at the factory where they wer produced originally) for about $25-$70 per frame, depending on materials. And if they have all of the old jigs. Basically, Specialized can make about 10-20 times what the component group costs, because the frame costs are basically free.

Or so I opine on the matter.
    WTF do I know, anyway.

They are not old frames, they are completely new stock. Those frames and parts weren't as easy for Specilized to get produced as most people thought.

Most of those parts haven't been manufactured in a while, so convincing the factories to start making obsolete frames and parts took alot of $ since Specialized was the only one who wanted them, and not too many of them at that.(so they claim)

The bikes are intended for 2 very small groups of customers. The nostalgic ones with too much money, and Specialized dealers that may want to hang one up for display.

I think most dealers would rather have one of the original ones that was well used, to put on display. I'll bet Specialized only sells about 100 or so. I think was a stupid idea.
