The snow was very wind-affected and we were producing small, soft slab slides all over the place. We were uncomfortable with the lack of snow stability, so we ascended the Northeast Ridge to the summit.
I thought the TR would be better if you could of traversed a little closer together.

At least he added the handy topo with the route overlayed. I haven't seen anyone use that ascent route before.

It seems like everyone comes to this board, finds where the good snow is, then goes and trashes it. It's all too much.

Why don't you stop bitching about the format of the trip report and make your own trip reports? Who gives a shit if someone posted a link? At least I can get some info off the link, unlike the incessant bitching I hear about them "not contributing." All I see in this thread is people talking shit, get real people. Make some turns, and if you don't like seeing people closely spaced on the skin track, don't go to an area like Castle peak. Better yet, leave the front range and find some real mountains.

I'm sorry about that. I was unaware the backcountry protocol doesn't have to be followed on Castle Peak. I guess those slopes are now avy controlled.

I bet you also didn't know that Castle Peak is in the Front Range? Good thing we have powdherd to give us a lesson on our home states mountain ranges. Thanks buddy.

This thread is now getting somewhere. Where, I don't know, but it sure beats a title and a link.

Out of my ~45 posts, I would estimate about 30+ to be trip reports.

It looks like he has roadkill stapled to his dome.

That is seriously the geighest picture I have ever seen.

You could post TR's without disclosing the sight. I have been skiing in monti since I moved here 16 years ago, and have never seen anything like i did this Sunday. I posted a couple tr's of early skiing in this area two years ago and never disclosed the sight.

I know you guys skied somewhere down south last weekend and did not disclose, maybe should do the same here.

    Junk show it is.

Honestly, what the fuck do people expect with all of this TR business? Of course it's going to lure people out there. If you don't want people going to your 'stash,' don't post pictures and descriptions of it on the fucking internet.

I agree, but it isn't like Montezuma basin isn't a known entity in the realm of early season backcountry skiing in Colorado.

You're absolutley right, dude, it's just the second time Skideeppowpowpow has said it's the biggest clusterfuck he's ever seen up there, and it's also the first year there are multiple daily reports from there on this website.

I'm not blasting anyone for anything, and frankly I enjoy TR's, just wondering if there is a correlation.

oh, and I can't wait to go up to Montezuma Basin for the first time soon!
