Sluts at the Summit gotta step it up for me now...

Consumed by a fit of jealousy over brownmonkey's Canon EOS D-10 setup, I vowed to get with the whole digital SLR gig. Problem was, I didn't have £2000 knocking about.

A bit of pragmatism, some sharp ebaying and I've come up with the following for a more realistic £500.

    http://i14.ebayimg.com/02/i/01/47/3c/28_1.JPG

    http://www.ibmega.com/ebay_panwebi/l...1850_55200.jpg

    http://i5.ebayimg.com/02/i/01/49/b6/39_1.JPG

Canon EOS D30 body, Sigma 18-50 lens, Sigma 55-200 lens and a Lexar 512mb 40x Pro Compact Flash card. If I can get £150 by chopping in a bunch of Minolta gear I've got knocking around I'll have snagged a digital SLR setup for TREE-FIDDY!

(props to lph for helping me out with shipping )

    Not so shitty

It sounds as if you will escape the customs charges I just got dicked with on my Freerides. I knew I'd get stuck with them but reckoned they were worth paying as I would be able to use the binders in La Grave. Wroooong... D'oh. Didn't anticipate the Parcelforce "express handling charge" of nearly 20 squid. Could have saved nearly £50. Ggggggrrrrrrr...

Disclaimer: any suggestion I am stalking you online is purely coincidental...

Good to hear that you finally landed your clamps. Parcelfarce are little other than the most shambolic shower of c*nts. They've shafted me in the past with various 'miscellaneous' charges, admin charges, you're-buying-ski-gear-so-you've-probably-got-a-bunch-of-disposable-income charges and so on.

Crooks to a man. Bloody disgrace.

It will get an airing at the Tahoe summit. I want to be there when it all goes off at Once Is Enough at the Wood and the Palisades at Squaw...

ahhh c'mon roo....I think we can find some better stuff for ya than Once.

(although a PainTrain of maggots dropping into Once would be quite entertaining).

18mm lens, dangling off a rope halfway down Once shooting sideways would make a really purdy shot...

Be careful. Don't want that thing ending up like the camcorder you , ahem, barely attached to the side of that car a few months ago.

Who's gonna bag the first Heart helmet cam? With a front flip on the exit? So hot right now.

Benny - I'm gonna be careful. I managed to get through the entire La Grave trip without busting any electronic gear.

Being an absentee season pass holder is tough. I'm way behind the curve.
