many choices is a good problem

I just want a ski that can:

charge like a stiff animal, hold an agressive edge if i want it to

float and allow me to lean forward in the deep shit

not be a total nightmare/frigtening on groomed or hardpack slopes

twin tip ok, but not essential.

I am planning to do some touring, out of bounds as well and will mount naxos on the skis..

I weigh 220 and im 6ft tall. I ski in europe and out west mostly but will try to go to alaska or bc this winter.

    I am between:

    volkl gotama

    volkl mantra

    armada Julien vs JP

    armada ANT

    Line Bacon

    Line Prophet 100

please guidance is good. I dont want dynastars.

I dunno maybe I should just pony up buy a 120+ ski for the deep shit and a more versatile one if im in view of a chairlift.

I'll throw in my good word for the ANT's. I love mine...they can tackle any terrain I throw at them, and shine in them. Be it icy hard pack, deep powder, or chopped up crud. Only draw back is moguls, and it is still doable. Read the thread stated above for more info on the ANTs. If your a strong skiier, and haven't been on any of the stiff big sticks, your in for a ride. You'll love it!

As far as your other choices...

JP Julian's are not stiff by any means...
The bacons are well...full of fat, with very little meat...ie, soft as hell

^Both of these should have great pow performance, but outside of that...they might be lacking for what your looking at.

I've flexed the prophet 100's in the 170ish size and they seemed like a well built ski with some meat, but not as much as say an ANT, although this may be due to the smaller size.

    Volkls...
Owned a pair of last year 183 Gotamas but sold them for ANT's mid season. Too soft for me, and not long enough for good powder performance. That said, the new line this year is stiffer, by how much? I don't know. From touching them in the shop...I almost want a pair.

    Mantra? Eh...I don't know...not cool enough?

    Consider your size...
Hard charging can be done on a soft ski with a kid like me (135 lbs), but christ, with your size you'll be so sad on a soft fatty. Look at the Bro Models...unbeatable service and love from those guys. Can't tell you personally how awesome they truly are, but give it a week or so and I'll let you know how my 179 fatties turn out. Bro's have a pretty good range of sizes and flexes you could be getting. A 188 stiff seems like the ideal choice for you.

To sum it all up...Fatty bacon is bad for you.

EDIT: Oh shit, and yeah, Who's your daddy? Seriously?! The new BD's are pretty sweet!

Or the old BDs. They're as wide as the ANT, plenty of running length, plenty of float, can be had new for cheap.
