    05/06 VCT mounting

I have some 05/06 182 VCTs (red topsheet) which I need to get mounted up. They have a pretty big twin on them.

I am 5'7" 160lbs fairly aggressive skier with not much desire to ski park or switch. This ski is pretty much going to be used as an everyday resort ski but it is super important I get no tip dive in the pow.

The freeride mark is -7.5cm from ski centre. I think the mounting will be different to a 190 VCT since the 190 has a flatter tail.

    Anyone got any recommendations?

    Thanks.

I have the 175 VCTs .I'm fairly aggressive as well but I do ski some park and hit jumps. I skied them all last year at Alta mounted about halfway between the freeride and center mark (don't know the exact distance).

They were great in the light pow but I got some serious tip dive on really wind buffed snow and had to sit pretty far backseat. This is just my experience so I dunno if it will be of much help. Most people I know who had them mounted them right at the freeride mark.

good luck and enjoy those skis, they rip.

The 190 has a slightly flatter tail, but it's still a half twin. It was actually turned up more than i thought it would be. I went -1cm from the freeride mark. They feel great in pow, but I'm still getting used to them on anything hard.

Getting used to them on anything hard? Are they hard to bring around at -1cm from the freeride?

This is a similar shape to gotamas and I remember reading somewhere that the 'I' mark on them is at -12cm from centre and that people mount them on the 'I' mark for all round skiing. That would mean an equivalent mount on the VCTs would be 4.5cm behind the freeride line which seems quite far back...

I think it's mostly because it's a stiffer ski and due to my own reluctance to push them very hard. I was trying to rail them on a groomer after popping out of some powder and was catching edges. This was on my first and only day on them (got them late in season.) I think on the freeride mark or 1 cm back is a nice mount point. They felt good on everything but the groomer, superpacked stuff. I wouldn't go farther back, they'd be a lot to handle.

    Okay thnx for the info.

I am probably going to go with -1cm from the freeride line.
