It nailed me 8 weeks ago. It started with the strep throat, headache, loss of appetite, fatigue, etc. Then it leveled off to just the fatigue and the occasional sore throat / cold symptoms. I've made several attempts to exercise (sometimes lightly, sometimes rigorously), but have had pretty mixed results - including what seemed to be a pretty serious set back after one particularly long and hard day. Since then I've been keeping it pretty mellow.

Anyone have any idea on the time frame for full recovery? I'm really jonesing to exercise for mental sanity, and it's also time to ramp it up for the ski season too. Since it's been 8 weeks should I just start exercising regularly, or keep it on the low down? How long can I expect it to take? I've already read the technical doctor jargon on the Scripps web site, etc. What I would really appreciate is a few personal accounts from folks in the know.

Wish I could say I got it kissing some hot young thing, but being married with 4 kids and in my early 30's.....NOT.

I was back to normal in about six weeks, but I was sixteen. And I DID get it from kissing a 'hot young thing'.

Don't know about duration for the chronologically advanced but I would be very VERY careful with your exercise, you don't want to do anything where the potential for abdominal/thoracic trauma exists because your spleen is generally very enlarged and prone to rupture with this condition. Falling off your bike onto your side could be fatal. That said, at eight weeks I would have to imagine that are pretty much back to normal.
