    Need help bending brakes...

Yeah, i posted this thread in Gear Swap by accident, but i have followed the tutorial for bending the P18 brakes, I have one brake bent, but when i went to rebuild the brake, i can't get it back together, i sat down for an hour today and just got even more frustrated. Can anyone give me any tips, I get stuck when I try to reattach the plate back to the bottom, and if i still am unable to fix my mess could I throw anyone some money and could I mail you my bindings to reassemble?

Skim the whole tutorial. There are a few good threads a ways down about tips on this issue. The key for me was squishing the plate, brake and everything back together, and then inserting a small screwdriver or punch through the holes and then moving the screwdriver to match the holes up. I think I did a better job of explaining it in the tutorial

I've had the best luck when I push the spring in after everything has been put back together. Not sure if you can do it with new, non worn out bindings though.

you're delusional if you think that brakes are effective on the terrain people ski here. They're for low-angle, smooth/groomed slopes.

I never thought of that. And now that I do think about it, you are right.
When my skis do come off it's always in a nasty steep place. The ski almost always come to a stop and is stuck in the snow tip or tail first. But there have been times where my brake did not engage and when the ski hit the runout it was a pita to get to it.

i learned this lesson my first "real" season on about 400 ft of vert of (semi) steep powder bumps. I could follow the railroad tracks my brakes left all the way to the base of the run. I'm not saying they're worthless (although if you're core like Glisseur and you're too lazy to bend P18 brakes, I can see that). But longer arms don't necessarily constitute a significant advantage.

actually i probably would, except for two reasons: 1) it's a requirement at most resorts, and I use all my skis inbounds; and 2) my friends (like me) are the kind of douchebags that would take advantage of this, click off my shoe, and push it down the slope.

hold the plate in place, without the spring(put it in after), then take a flat screwdriver/wood chisel, make sure all tabs are lined up, then tap the plate in place with screwdriver & hammer. then put the spring in place, that is tougher than the plate
