    NSR #1 - Used-up propane canisters

How the heck do I get rid of these? I've got two of them that are empty enough that they don't produce a hot-enough flame to sweat pipes with, but still have some propane left in them. Throwing them in the trash seems like a very bad idea, unsafe for sure and probably illegal.

Around here most of the stations that fill have an expired tank graveyard somewhere near the filling site. Another thought is to drill a hole put in a airhose chuck and use it for portable compressed air. Make sure you get all the gas out first.

Yenta, L7, I'm pretty sure he's asking about the small 1L torch bottles, not the 5 gal. BBQ tanks.

It's the latest thing in Socal. Spend $20,000 on a granite countertop island complete with side burner, sink, wine fridge, dishwasher, faux palm frond canopy, 60" plasma screen, bar seating for 12, and top it off with a pos grill that runs off a propane tank. Call it a BBQ.

The small 1 pound tanks can be tossed in the trash.

Empty and remove the valve core witha schrader core removal tool if you want to recycle the steel.

    Heres a reference for ya...

Take them to the Hardware store.

A gas grill can be 'cued well with if you use wood chips. Ask me how I know.

Not as much fun as you think. It merely pierces holes in them and they fly around till the pressure is all gone, no fire, no explosion. Trust me, I know.

Now, if you put them in a campfire and then shoot them=fun.

Don't forget the string of lights in the little tube, you have to have the lights.
