    Freeride Question

I will soon be mounting a pair of Freerides to some Gotamas. I've never used Freerides or any other AT binder. I have heard some people complain about the lack of ramp angle...others seem to think its no big deal. Do people ever shim the binder to create some angle?

Next question...do the characteristice of the binding itself, as opposed to skier preference, suggest a different mounting point than recommended by Volkl? If so, why and how much?

Thank you for your attention to this matter and for those who cannot help themselves but to JONG or otherwise deride my sorry newbie AT ass, may I, in advance, suggest you go fuck yourselves.

They already UBER lifted, so as far as I know, no one shims the heel further.
Additionally, if you do shim the heel, you will raise the rubber tripod off the surface of the ski and ruin whatever chance you have at having any sort of torsional stability. The only thing you can do is to remove the plastic toe shim which does nothing anyway.

Some people immediately mount the freerides +1 on wider skis to compensate for their "dead" "flexy" feeling. Either Im insensitive to the bindings or I just dont care and Ive been fine with mounting the ski where it should be mounted for alpine. Having said that, I will be on dynafits this year.

If I were you, Id mount the bitches where they freaking belong.

    of course in dapoopenhauser

I and Id think many others would argue that its better than when it isnt in contact. Theres lots of threads on that one. If UAN were around Im sure hed start asking what boots are you using etc etc edit: also that climbing elevator\heel lock doesnt provide a tight enough fit in the pooper to provide any substantial torsional rigidity, and then you're relying completely on the toe peice to resolve all the torques.

I agree its definitely not as good as it could be, ie a bdel redesign on the binding to allow for a bit of preload.

    anyway, back to the pooper

I just finished fucking cj and pechelman in a sick threesome while staring at a picture of irulANDublo and this what we came up with.

Your username is stupid because there's only one of you.

And also that to git sum (ramp angle) take out the plastic thing on the front of the binding mount. If you weren't touching yourself in the padded room so much, you would have found those threads......one of which I put up and yossarian got so jealous of my sweet pictures he got all mean.

Depending a bit on the skis the trifecta that exists underneath the heelpiece, not the bar lockdown thing, the part where your heel goes may or may not touch the ski. If it doesn't, glue something there so that it does.

And if you don't have enough torsional rigidity from freerides, get off your ass and hike to some real fucking snow.

I don't know why anyone uses that stupid j word that only exists here. Being a dick directly with meaning is so much more rewarding.

You talkin bout my ass or skis?

I never said anything about rubber.......I meant hard plastic or a thin piece of aluminum. That at least takes up the space before contact if there's a gap. And if you mean the rubberish trifecta on the skis, having pressure on them before a lateral force is induced already takes up some of the elasticity.

    ooh I WIN!!

If you're talking about my ass, what can I say........god made it.

Show me where I said it creates a rigid system and I'll let you see the REALLY good pics of i rule and you blow.

show me where I said it wasn't an improvement. It's just not a meaningful one - I can get plenty of flex by hand even with a prestressed tripod. Meaningful improvement - you know, like how your wewe still looks like a tiny peepee after you shave the goosedown

I haven't hit puberty yet so I'll have to wait and see...... My 16 yr old moustache feels like steel wool though.

But you can't possibly tell me taking up space and prestressing the not really flexible rubber isn't more meaningful than maintaining open space which has zero resistance. Putting pressure on that rubber brings it that much closer to hitting the hard plastic on which it's seated.

And if you can, you're wrong.

    I SOOOOOOOO MUTHERFUCKING WIN!!!!!!

Just to prove it lets go mount some on some dh skis and ski freerides on hardpack since that's what freerides are best suited for.

    SICK!!

I'm not voting for him in November. And Irul really needs to eat something (and beauty tip - a little less mascara dear).

there was an old thread about shimming the heel and someone was even selling them. i used to remove the toe shim but i found that the gain was negligable compared to the damage i was doing to the binding on the uphill. if the toe jaw doesn't have adequate clearance it will use the ski as a fulcrum, which harms the binding and loosens the screws.

Which model bindings were you using? You literally damaged them?

I did this with some freerides and don't remember hitting them when hiking.
That's the only model/year I've messed with though.

I noticed the difference in angle on corn when I did it. My other bc setup still has the shim, which I think is pretty irrelevant in deep snow where those skis belong.
