I've been a low-baller before, and often you get shut-down. (just today, for example). But, to me, spending $300 on a brand new softhsell is completely retarded. On the same note, spending $200 for something that's been worn is also equally bad. I hate to tell some of you this, but if you're paying full retail for shit, then you're just getting screwed, or you have enough money that you don't have to worry about dropping serious dough for a jacket.

I've been (seriously) hooked up on Gear Swap before, always by people that were spancered or worked in shops, or etc. (Ironically, the best deals i've had were with sub-20 post count people). If I offer an amount for something, than that's what I feel like it's worth to me. $100 for a used jacket, that seems about right. $250 for something that's been sweat into=go fuck yourself.

If the seller doesn't like the price...ummm...well...deny the offer. duh.

It seems like a whiny thing to bitch about, imo.

    Hard to argue that logic.

I admit I jumped to conclusions on that one, but my basic point stands: If you need a certain price on something, say it. And if you're negotiable say that.

Somebody who PMs or emails you looking for a deal on somethng you've fixed a firm price to is just a bottom-feeder, they'll probably ebay it later anyway.

But there's all kinds of firm - 18 year old firm, 28 year old hard body firm, and 38 year solidifying silicone firm.

Anon- one PM or post with a lowball offer isn't that big of a deal. 10 PM's complete with sob stories, crackpot ideas for elaborate trades, and stupid prices are annoying as hell to sift through.

I usually sell a lot of gear at what I believe are fair prices here every fall so I can get new sticks and outerwear for the upcoming season. Things almost always go super smoothly and my gear usually finds a new home within a couple of weeks. This year has been a lot different though. I've gotten stupidly lowball offers, and even stupider ideas for trades in place of cash than ever before this season.

It was so annoying the first time I sold some gear that when I just put some softgoods up I specified "no lowball offers" in the post, and I still got a stupidly lowball offer from a dude with 2 posts today

Am I the only one who has found the "maggots who bought this thread also liked these threads" links on the bottom of each page to be helpful?

Not sure how I missed this thread the first go around but it was the late night comedy I needed. And after seeing Griz Jr tonight I'd say he's worth a bit more than $275.
