Bringing it from the STL - Mets are still *Pond Scum*

Oh yes, they're back again, and they actually aren't that good this year, but the Cards have somehow put theirselves in position to get swept by the Mets. Just kidding, maybe they can somehow make it through against a far superior team (excepting #5 and also nice to have Pedro and El Duque OUT).

And, if they can beat the Mets then who knows...

As for the fucking Mets, they have sucked for always - fuck the #7 train, fuck Shea stadium - this is bitter blood for St. Louisans - I got to grow up in the era of Tudor-Goodin, and the mustachioed mets douches - bring the series back to the Lou . pitch aROUND Beltran!

I hope that St. Louis goes deep, if only because I really want to hear Nelly sing the national anthem. It could be the best version since Carl Lewis'.

If Floyd is really going to miss this series, things are looking pretty good for the Cards. It would also be good if Rolen would stop sucking.

I hope the Cards don't have a chance against the Mets... that would be the worst team ever to make it to the WS. They're riding the backs of Carp and Poo-holes and no one else.

    i love flushing
    i love queens
    i love the 7 train
    i love mr met
i love the magic apple in the top hat
    i love willie randolph
i love darryl strawberry, dwight gooden, ray knight, gary carter, keith hernandez, bobby ojeda, mookie wilson, howard johnson, davey johnson, and the rest of the '86 mets
    i love tom seaver, too

fkna.. it's a good day to be a mets fan..

funny thing about the cards.. when talking about them, it's usually about how well pujols will do - as if he's the only thing the cards have going for them.
the mets have been plagued with injuries. but here is the question: if pujols is injured, who will step up?

here's to game one - the cards better steal a game early in the series if they hope to have a chance - being underdogs though seems to be a good fit with these underachievers - good to see that the new york press has already counted them out in 4.

Oh, and by the way, I hate that magic apple in the hat

I had a chance to buy a ticket (face value) near the field boxes, but opted out. In return, I get a chance to sit in the same seat for game 6 if it goes that far. Part of me doesn't see that happening (Mets winning of course), but part of me does. We shall see.

    Until then...

    Go METS!!!

Rainout definitely hurts the Mets because now Carpenter moves up to game 2 against Maine and Glavine will pitch game 5 on 3-days rest. On the upside, 5 games in 5 days means the depth of the bullpen will be that much more important, and with the 2nd best pen in the league, Mets should take advantage.

Best case scenario for games 2-4 is that you get 5 solid innings from Maine, Traschel, and Perez and then let the bullpen do what it has done all year.

yep - Beltran owns the Cards - I saw that one coming - redbirds squandered a pretty decent opportunity last night...

cards better pitch around delgado too...

    OOOPS! TOO LATE

while we're at it, cards should pitch around lo duca and wright - just to be on the safe side. wright's bat may be coming alive.
meanwhile, mets just need to keep striking out A-'hols - he's yet to produce a run this series...

That would be the easy way out. Yankee fans are far too caught up with being hypocrites and turning into Mets haters themselves these days. How quickly the tide is turning.

my first baseball game was a mets game (84 or 85), we used to go a few times each summer growing up when we'd stay out on long island. however, when it came to watching games on tv, it was always channel 11, not channel 9.

Very dated; I'm pretty sure Tommie Agee's been dead for 5 years or so.

Even though I am a Boston guy, I always liked the Mets, mostly because I was on the Mets in little league. My coach called me "Nails." Firmly behind the expansion team in this one.

1 out of 3 in st. louis with crippled pitching isn't bad. the mets taking the next two at shea would be considerably easier than the cards at shea, if the situation were reversed.

the mets beat him up pretty hard last week. they lost that game, but not because of carpenter's pitching.
