MP used to pull that shit at Bells back in the seventies. He used to piss off all those old guys. Rabit, Nat, Shaun Thompson...you name it. he had a way of pysching out his competitors like no other. and then would come in there and just kill it. ive video's of him surfing Kirra with no one out and before the jetty was put in. the sand used to build up and spit the heaviest beach barreles known to man

I read a blurb somewhere that Slater was taking an extra time day off between contests.

I read on surfline.com today that Slater got held up by a delayed layover flight from France. I don't believe it though. I prefer to believe that he got held over by hookers and blow and thought he might have an extra day or two before the contest actually started. If he wins first at Mundaka he wins the title. Should be interesting but I would really like to see it come down to the Pipe event to determine the world title.

Slater surfs better when he's been out of the "scene" for a while, plus as noted it pisses everyone else off , to his advantage...it's always the surfer with the least pressure who surfs best and that's what Kelly's good at, getting the pressure off himself and on to everyone else.......I wish Taj were better at dealing with pressure on himself.
