    Talking My new local hill:

Located just a few miles down the road:

$13 dollars for night skiing, and 180 inches of lake effect blower.

    Looking forward to it.
I have my fingers crossed for some colder temps and thanksgiving turns.

    hah! outer limits!

I seem to remember that trail being in vermont.. straight.. very steep.. with bumps.. (and it costs a lot more than $13 to ski it!)

Thanksgiving that far south in Michigan is very doubtful. It hasn't been reliable at thanksgiving time anywhere in the Lower Peninsula for at least 10 years, especially south of Cadillac. I HOPE the wish comes tru, but not gonna hold my breath.

I love the mogul "field", Mogul Patch I would believe to be much more accurate.

And are we talking the same alpine valley as this? the maps differ, If I were gonna be dickwaving about my new home hill, I'd use this map.

    That looks cute.

I think we're talking about two different Alpine Valleys, although they both appear to be the total sickness.

The one Egon's talking about is in Ohio (where there is a fair amount of lake effect...although I wouldn't describe it as 'blower pow'). The other one is in Michigan.

Ironically, neither Michigan or Ohio has any alpine ecosystems....not even remotely close.

Damn, The one I pointed out is south eastern michigan. There is an Alpine Valley in Wisconsin as well. Their claim to fame...Stevie Ray Vaughn was killed in a helicopter crash on their "mountain".

I had no idea there was one in Ohio as well. Here is to creativity in naming something that is neither alpine nor valley in any way whatsoever.

Why do I have to drop this every time someone says, "Lake Effect" It hasn't been this deep since 2000 though. It will be this year because I've been good to the snow Gods!

Heh. That's where I learned. The heart of the East Cleveland snow-belt. I remember flying down "The Mill" and running into the rental shack when I was 5.

Running the lifts on Thanksgiving is a complete possibility, and to be fair, it is somewhat on the eastward facing side of a valley.
