    PROBLEMS SEATING TIRE (TUBLESS RELATED)

No, I will NOT post this in tech talk, Biatch. And yes, I used the search function and didn't really come up with anythng good.

Anyway, I got these new tires, IRC Trailbear K. It'll be my first time running non-DH tires, if I can get 'em on.

Setup: Mavic Crossmax enduro UST/Standard rim+ IRC Trailbear K 2.5 + Stan's, I never run real UST tires and haven't ahd any issues until now. According to Mavic, the rim is supposed to 'go both ways'.

The rear one (2.25) seated fine, the front seemed a little 'loose' going on the rim and now no matter what I try, it won't seat. It won't even seal enough to hold ANY air. I've tried High volume compressor and CO2. Any tips?
Am I just asking for trouble with this tire seeing as how it seemed loose to begin with?
Will I just blow it off the rim on my first ride?
    WTF?
    Does this thread suck?

Put some bead wax or soapy water on the bead when you install it.

Sometimes yanking sideways on the tire helps set the bead too.

It's not that the bead won't 'pop' into place, I'm down with the soapy water technique. The thing won't even hold enough air to get a seal and fill up. Plus, my Stan's is running all over the place. I did try pulling sideways on it to try to get the bead up on the rim, I also tried squeezing the beads together, that was stupid and obviously didn't work either. Maybe I haven't had enough to drink. Thanks for the response. Any other ideas.

You need to get the Stans Valves with removable cores, get to tires to bead up and then, deflate, remove cores and then add stans......they are really nice, especially if you switch tires frequently.

As far as beading the tires up.....so times it just sucks.

Your problem is that the tire is too loose at the bead to make contact with the rim and all the air is coming out. I'm sure you already know this, but sometimes you can yank the tire out of the channel running down the middle of the rim, where you usually have the bead when inflating it and stretch the bead up towards the edge of the rim where it seats. Sometimes this works and sometimes it does not. Anyhow good luck.

I assume you have read everything at www.notubes.com

    OK, good.

I find it easier to get them to seat if you put atube in them for a few days. It seems to get the tire into the right shape. Brand new tires have given me headaches too.

I guess I might have to try that, thanks. He doesn't recommend IRC tires as it turns out but I guess we'll see. I hate having to change my setup but I can't the Tiogas in a 2.5 anymore and I've gotten used to the extra girth up front. Plust these are A LOT lighter than the Tiogas.
