    www.Lat34.com

Lat34 is an AOL spinoff that's trying to build an action-sports destination web site. Have any of you heard of it before? If so, what do you think?

If not, what do you think?

I ask because they're interested in putting some of our stuff on their site.

I should want to cook him a simple meal, but I shouldn't want to cut into him, to tear the flesh, to wear the flesh, to be born unto new worlds where his flesh becomes my key.

I doubt I'll ever look at it again

I quickly checked out the surf sections and it contained summary info on the two latest WCT events and a generic article on the direction of tow-in surfing. The info on the contests was a fraction of what's available on surfline.com and the ASP website. Nothing else really appealed to me.

I don't buy the whole "action-sports" demographic, at leat not one that would log onto a single website. I think it works for FuelTV and EXPN because there is not enough interest (and probably not enough programming content) to support a single channel for things like surfing, skiing, skateboarding etc. So, I'll watch FuelTV if they are doing a special on surfing Fiji or skiing a glacier in AK, but I'm not just going to sit down and watch some BMX or kitesurfing because I think I'm "gnarly."

I don't really know anybody who considers themselves an "action sports athlete." Most of the "action-sports" type people I know are heavily into one or a few things, even if they're open minded to try something else.

I guess it can also work for general marketing (i.e. Mountain Dew) for a different reason.

I spend my time on the internet at sites where I can learn new things or delve deeply into my interests. Lat34 is a mile wide and an inch deep.

I resolve PC issues remotely. Need to get rid of all that pr0n you downloaded on your work laptop? Or did you just get a ton of viruses from searching for "geriatic midget sex"? Either way I can fix them. PM Me for maggot prices.

Aside from Karina Petroni pictures, no reason to go back - for exactly the reason brocktoon said. I'd watch FuelTV if I a)owned a TV and b) owned a Tivo.

More webdownloadable/portable content would be worth some $ from me

I learned that Travis Pastrana is kind of a dick. I can't wait to check and see if there are any developments to that angle.

Also anxiously waiting. I am of the opinion that the metal mulisha (not a typo) needs some "me time."

Dude, NO! Trav is cool, (Maryland represent, yo!) but he's got a lot on his plate for a 22-year-old. Did you see the double backflip?

As far as the site, they've got some good sponsors in Mountain Dew and Chevy etc., I don't see any harm in putting TGR content up there if it helps pay the rent. But Bacon nailed it with his "mile wide and an inch deep" comment.

It's exposure and if it pays I say go for it.

It'd be really cool if you could produce a Top 10 list for skiing, like they did for surfing

Here is an Alexa ranking for them:
    http://www.alexa.com/data/details/tr...=www.lat34.com

The site ranks like 144,000 in most views, whereas TGR ranks 36,000. So more people visit here than there, but maybe you could pick up some "action sports fan" traffic that didn't already know about your site.
    Thanks Shane

Agreed....I don't see myself spending any time on that site, but the design is solid and the sponsors are real. As a business decision, I don't see an reason to avoid selling content to them. I don't see them having a "gnar" audience, but with backing like AOL, the site is garunteed to generate page views, which is never a bad thing.
