Mtb vs. Snowboard Question for Coloradoians

My girlfriend's brother is getting Married in Boulder, during Thanksgiving. I am going to be up there for a week. Should I bring my snowboard or my Mtb bike?
Either way I am pumped to see some of your beautiful country.

You can rent either. Just bring your clothing, and choose as conditions allow. Thanksgiving could go either way.

Riding around Boulder would be doable, but the riding right around Boulder isn't that great. The good trails will be covered with snow. That being said you could do some riding.

Snowboarding last Thanksgiving was awesome. After the 4th week of October last year, I never though about my bike until spring. Who knows what this year will be like, but I would say bring your board. Loveland will probably have quite a bit of terrain open.

    I would recommend:

Watch snow reports and webcams. If you are planning on backcountry riding then check CAIC frequently (http://geosurvey.state.co.us/avalanche/). If you are a backcountry rider, then I'm sure you've learned about our snowpack in your avy training. If you are riding inbounds, then watch their reports to see what is opening, total snowfall, and base. I've seen Thanksgivings with poor inbound terrain open. And, I personally am not a fan of boarding on ice skating rinks.

If the snow is good, then bring the board. If it is not good, then there might be good mountain biking along the front range. There is plenty of info available that will allow you to make the decission the night before you leave.

    Most importantly, enjoy Colorado!

    Coloradooooo

Yah, Thanks for the info, pretty much summed up what I was thinking. I have a younger buddy or mine who just started attending Boulder. So he will deff. be scooping out the goods. Now just got to pick up a new jacket and I will be set.
