TR - August in Bariloche Argentina

A couple questions - 1) your write up suggests this was August I think? When did you arrive, and when did you leave? Trying to get a judge of conditions relative to timing. The last time I was there Lopez for instance was taunting me, but I thought the road in was still shut down low. Did you hike in all the way, and when was that? Similar questions for the low tree skiing - everytime I've been, anything in the trees was pretty well mush/rain/wet/glop... Was that early Aug? And 2) Did you have any hassles going back and forth across the Chilean/Argentinian border? Specifically, did you ever do an Arg to Chile and back in a day, and did the border guards give you any grief if so?

Thanks for the compliments! I put dates on my trip reports so you can see when I was there. I think I got lucky to get the spring snowpack in august. Many people said that august this year was like september. Both times I went to lopez we hiked up from teh main road at the bottom. It was heavy trailbreaking during the storm and the snow was a bit heavy but it was a fun day. The second trip to lopez was great spring conditions and again we hiked up from the bottom, but this time along the trail.
Crossing the chile argentina border was fine, no grief at all. I had the correct paperwork for the rental car so it wsa smooth. I think if you didn't speak some spanish it could be pain in the butt. I went to chile for a week, I'm not sure what a shorter trip would be like.

And here I thought Las Lenas was the only place to ski down there.

^ it is...but if you were to bring your splitboard, say 30Aug - 14 Sep or so, I'm sure we could find plenty of other places that make Lenas look small
