You should definately start a thread for that.

Late yestereen' I saw the old moon with the new moon in her arms foretelling of rain and squally blasts.
Some places got a lot, some places a little, and other places not so much. Some places didn't get any snow.
Dave, why are you not at you-know-where? Tomorrow? Robbie and Marshall went today.Originally Posted by iskibc
I went back to Loveland Pass this morning. There was only like an inch new from yesterday. But it was fun, like almost knee deep. And a lot of people showed up - very cool vibe...

Well, sweet - so glad to hear you're wanting to ski! I'm heading out of town tomorrow for a few days, but the next cycle I want to ski with you for sure.Originally Posted by KillingCokes
ps - I heard south of Hoosier got hammered. Wonder how Monarch pass looks. Another thing to consider now is grabbing inbounds stuff. Grass bottomed cut trails.

First Skiing of the Season
Back to Back Big Storms Bring Silverton Mountain, Colorado…Heavy Snow!
SILVERTON, CO., Sept. 22, 2006 – Silverton Mountain Ski Area saw the first skiers of the year after receiving two major storms dropping snow this Thursday and Friday. The lucky skiers and snowboarders were waiting and ready to ride when they woke up to what looked like February storm conditions. After two days of heavy snow, Silverton Mountain’s slopes were chocked full of new snow 28” – 36” deep at 11,600’ (lower mountain elevation) with substantially more up at higher elevations, and it continues to dump more snow. Silverton Mountain is America’s highest ski area, with a peak elevation of 13,487’.
Silverton Mountain has gotten the “First Tracks” of the winter 6 years in a row and every season since opening for business in 2001. With the amazing snow conditions, the skiers and snowboarders were skiing steep chutes and open powder fields. The scheduled opening date for Silverton Mountain was planned for November 23, 2006, but now plans are being considered to open as early as possible. If the snow continues and temperatures remain cold enough to hold the snow, Silverton will open the backside of the mountain immediately at that time with 100% all natural snow. The new snow from today will likely settle to about 16" of base during the weekend, so 36" of additional snow would be needed to open.
NEW for 2006-2007:
164 Acres of NEW Ski Terrain- Silverton just added 164 acres of ultra steep expert terrain (some of it featured in photos from today!!!). Areas of this new terrain are nearly vertical, loaded with cliffs, and are for the best experts only.
Silverton Mountain is the newest ski/snowboard area in Colorado and has claimed first tracks of the season for the sixth year in a row. The ski area caters to advanced and expert snow riders and has been ranked #1 in Steeps and #1 in Powder Snow in the USA by Skiing Magazine. Silverton Mountain will be offering a combination of unguided and guided lift served skiing for 2006/2007.

Not a whole lot up by Rollins Pass- maybe 10-12" in the deeper spots, but it was melting fast as it was high 30's and sunny up there today. It was really wet snow by the time I got up there this morning around 10:30.

Tons of snow here in Aspen. 14-24 inches up top and most of it has melted in town...still snow top to bottom at Snowmass though. Unreal for september.
Monday morning ski report:
Silverton recieved 28"
Keystone 22
Vail/Beav 24 and
Breckenridge 27...26...25....24...23
It's going fast!
It'll all be gone anyday now...![]()
I snoeshoed on Shrine Ridge near Vail Pass....3 feet of light powder up there....so incredible
Late report: Only 12" on snow stake on Sat AM. Skied like pudding (dense but not that wet/mushy). 3-4" rhime crystals on the trees = cool. Turns were had but was very sketch with all the old rottin' deadfall just under the surface. Not much loading so winds were not too favorable for that during storm. Southerly slopes only at 4-5".
Cameron Pass: 20" storm total at treeline.. here are a couple pics from montgomery pass over the weekend. we found decent coverage and good snow conditions both saturday and sunday:
