    Camping in the wasatch

I am going to SLC in less than a month and i am looking for a place to live during that time. Can i just sort of hike around in the hills and pitch a tent wherever i want or are there specific places to go? if so where?

it's been my experience that you can pitch a tent wherever you please. just don't be wearing sweat pants or you'll creep out passersby.

This dude and Elizabeth Smart were able to camp out in the hills above SLC for a year before getting caught:

On a more serious note, I would not just pitch a tent anywhere. A bunch of private land is scattered throughout the Wasatch. Buy a Utah Gazateer (see below), which will have all the designated camp spots. In my expereince, as long as you're on BLM or National Forest land, you're good to go (barring any specific regulation against it).
