    New Transition lineup

After buying my Vagrant I've been super stoked on these guys. Superb customer service, reasonable pricing, burly, well-designed bikes. Pretty stoked on the new '07 bikes - the Covert looks sick - but of course not as sweet as a 575 And the Double. And the new Preston. And...and... all online now:

Wow that Covert looks amazing. Good thing they didn't show a picture of it in Transparent Electric Blue or it would be on its way here right now.

    That Gran Mal looks confused.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

I've always lusted after a Preston FR as the ultimate "one bike quiver", the only thing is that I feel the frame is a bit heavy though. Too bad, because I think Transitions are really cool bikes.

nothing like saving a half a pound on a broken frame.

yeah, but depending on how you set the Preston up it feels like it rides a lot lighter...

    TOTEM dawg! TOTEM!

I think there will be a lot of confused looking bikes in 07. I'm psyched to check out the totem at the show, but I think its a little silly.

We missed you up at Keystone last Sunday, that would've been fun.

Edit: I find myself lusting after a Bottle Rocket. That looks like the mostest funnest bike ever.

I just can't get used to the idea of an SC fork (or an air shock for that matter) on a DH bike...mental block kinda thing. On the other hand, I know a 66 RC2X would go quite nicely on my Highline.

Business took over the trip, unfortunately...that and the fact that I didn't have a bike. Hev and fondig came by after and rubbed it in though. Next year for sure.

My concern over the Prestion FR frame weight comes from comparing against the other bike I was thinking for for the same purpose: the Santa Cruz Blur.

    Preston FR: 7.9 lbs
    Blur: 6 lbs

However, obviously there's so many other factors here, that comparing by weight alone is meaningless.

And 2lbs extra weight or not, I still lust after a Preston FR more than I do a Blur, so don't worry, logic isn't really coming into this anyway

The point of the Preston is that it's a short-travel FR frame, so it's built burly.

I see no problem with that. There's a mental bias in the bike world where it's OK to have a 100mm fork on a hardtail, but the second you have any rear wheel travel at all, the two numbers have to be equal. What's wrong with 170mm front and 120mm rear if the geometry is built for it?
