    skiing books

I was wondering if anyone can recommend me some books with skiing theme, something with stories of mountains and people skiing far away places with tons of powder, something in the genre of mouintain climbing/mountaineering , but ski -oriented... to be honest I have absolutely no idea if such books even exist, but it would really make my life until December a bit more bearable if I can get my hands on such literature...

There's Powder Road- but its more of a photo journal with minimal writing. You can finish it off in an hour if you look at the pictures for a while.

I'm reading Breaking Even by Dick Barrymore. The writing is pretty dry, but it is funny and it gives good insight into the early days of ski bumming and filming.

I read "Right On the Edge of Crazy" a few years ago--a year with the USST back in the Moe-Rasmussen-Kitt days, pretty good. Not sure how you'd get it now.

"Deep Powder Snow"....The bible of ski books. Relations between the soul and the mountain, and the earth.. Deloras Lachapelle...Hard to find in print outside of Utah. Anyone who skis Alta has read this book. It opens your eyes to the relationship we overlook everytime you step onto the mountain. Amazing!! Her husband was Ed Lachapelle, pioneer in snow safety in Utah. He wrote some books as well.

I would think most are out of print. I have a few old ones that my mom gave me from the 1940's, 50's, 60's & 70's.

    powder burn

it looks into the history of Vail mountain and then into the legal and lawsuits that were behind the arson fires of Two Elk a few years ago as well as the attempt to save the linx that live in blue sky basin. the book is really well done and is a pretty easy and fast read. i would recomend it to anyone who likes history, law, and well SKIING
