    jong questions....

Had some questions for you all, and yes I know they are jongish. The skis that I have now are my first pair, and I've always rented before this season. When storing(not using) them and my boots is there anything I need to know? On the boots, buckles fastened or not, and on the skis bindings 'open' or 'closed'? I thought I heard mention somewhere that they shuold be closed, so I thought I'd ask. Thanks for your time.

skis: freshly waxed and not scraped to preserve bases and brakes not locked together.
boots: buckled always. Even if not using then just for a day or two.
bindings:?? never heard anthing about them being open or closed. I have always stored mine opened. I have heard that some back off some of the tension on the DIN to keep the spring from getting fatigued but that was a long time agon and I don't know if there is any truth to it. I personally have never done that.

Boots fastened, but not tight, as Vinman says for you bases and turn the DIN all the way down......funny things happen though if you forget to turn it back up for the first run!....oh make sure the boots and the liners are properly dry.

no no no! there have been many arguements about this here, at powder, and at gapic about turing your bindings down. You were supposed to do that like 10 years ago, but not anymore. I think we decided that unless your crank the DIN way up (over 12 or so) than you should NOT turn the DIN down. Even if you ride them at 14, the most you should turn them down to would be your reccomended DIN. So just let 'em be.
