Err, what does zophtic mean ?

I'm reading Requiem for a Dream, and the word "zophtic" comes up a lot.

Someone here will know! dictionary.com and google don't seem to :-)

    Cheers,

I haven't read the book, but judging from the Wikipedia description of the book, I believe it's an alternate transliteration of the Yiddish "zaftig." It's means chubby, but usually not in a bad way, more like baby fat.

Yeah like pleasingly plump, i.e. a big self-confident woman who is sensual (likes to eat, likes to laugh, likes to fuck). Usually seen as "zaftig".
