my new step-up gun, check it out

I just picked up the beauty yesterday at the new patagonia store in Cardiff. Can't wait for some winter juice to ride this baby on.

the model is called the KMRP/keith malloy round pin.

    I ride a 6'1" short boad. this is a 6'6" step-up gun.

    what do you guys think?

instead of it ripping out your leash cup, it rips your leg out of your hip socket instead.

    Question

What's the rest of the dimensions? My step up is a 6'6" x 18 1/2" x 2 1/4", glassed extra strong because I break boards, like for fun.

they make em pretty tough, my Patagonia has taken a lot of travel abuse unscathed, but a wipeout collision with a tuflite dinged it!!

    6'6" x 18 1/2 x 2 3/8th

the board has an epoxy glass job so it is going to be alot stronger than your typical board.

nice ref. to north shore there buddy.

hey watch it brah, that's a fresh hot coat, rino chaser don't need no howley hand print fuckin up it's glide.

That leash plug design is brilliant. I have seen rails ripped to shreds by the nylon cord that the leash attaches to. That design should completely alleviate that concern.
I should want to cook him a simple meal, but I shouldn't want to cut into him, to tear the flesh, to wear the flesh, to be born unto new worlds where his flesh becomes my key.

it was a joke there buddy. (is buddy the new "dude"?)

but i still can't get my head around what you're sayin here...

i get the rail damage idea (although i've never seen a board damaged by the leash) but it seems it would put the leash more in the water and cause slightly more drag than having it come out the top like a standard leash plug.

anyways, i'm happy for you and your new board. thanks for sharing.

    is buddy the new dude

haha, yeah i use buddy alot. i'm kinda over "dude"

this should be a new thread.

ive seen a few boards that have had the rails totally screwed by the leash, hope this helps relieve that problem. go to pointblanks.com and see for yourself Fletchers view on his leash plug idea.

    cheers

the only reason the leash should damage the tail is if the leash loop is to long and the nylon rope comes into contact with the rail. you simply make the loop small/shorter that it can't reach the rail.

i'm sure the leash plug is built like that for a reason, but i don't think anyone here's explained it right. buddy.
    fine

    leash plug

looks like a cool idea. maybe it has something to dowith when you go down in big surf and your board starts tombstoning. it won't pull at an angle and might be easier to fetch your board back when your in some good whitewater

    your board is sick.

i've seen that the waves down by you have had super good shape lately. sounds like fun with the 3'-5' with occasional 6 footers at Trestles and San Onofre.

I just ordered a 6'10" pin-tailed mini-gun. For the big days up north on some of the steeper hollower Nor-Cal waves. Made by a local shaper (the only way people should have boards shaped) Nick Palandrini of Source Surfboards.

    6'10" x 18 1/2 x 2 3/8. (quite similar to poonies)

I like that board alot man. pics need to be posted of ya shredding on it.

so I'm looking to get my second board. I'm riding a 6' 6" twin fish at the moment that I'm pretty happy with but I'm starting to step it up into big wave and I dont know weither to go to a semi gun or gun. I've only been riding for about 5 monthes so I dont know too much about board shape and such.
